Two weeks later

"Hey Kelsie do you have a minute? I have to talk to you," Mrs. Evans said. China, Jazz, Alex, and I were having lunch in the main lounge. This was our main hangout place at the school other than the music room. Well the music room was my main favorite room.

"Yeah sure," I told her. We walked towards her classroom and stopped.

"Someone called the office and asked for you. They say that they need to talk to you about something."

"Do you know what about?"

"I don't know, but he works as a police officer and he's in the classroom waiting for you."

"Okay," I told her. She then opened the classroom door for me and left to go do something else I guess. Once I sat down the officer turned around and looked at me.

"What's up Mr. Bolton," I asked somewhat surprised. Normally I go to the station to hang out with him every Tuesday.

"Hey Kelsie," he said.

"What are you doing here?"

"Well I got a call from the foster home that you stay in and Mrs. Teal said that you ran away. Why?"

"I didn't run away, I left."

"Why did you leave?" I looked at him thinking if I should tell him or not. To be honest, officer Bolton who I call Mr.Jay, is the closest thing I have to a dad, and I'm happy that he's not like anything like my real dad. He actually takes care of me, make sure that I'm okay, and stuff like that. I ended up decided to tell him the truth but not the whole truth.

"Well I left because I don't like it there anymore," I told him.

"Why not? She treats you like you're hers biologically."

"In front of you she does," I murmured.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing. So where am I going to stay now."

"You are going back to Mrs.Teal's. Understand," he asked me with a tone that means don't say anything else. I nodded then looked down cause I didn't want him to see the tear that just came out of my eye. The thing is, I don't want to go back because she always do things to me that grown people shouldn't do to kids.

"Well I'm got to go back to work now you behave okay?"

"Okay"

"Are you coming by the station today?"

"Yeah"

"Okay come give me a hug." So I gave him a hug and when he left I just sat down in one of the desk in the classroom cried for four minutes. Then I dried my eyes and went towards the gym for my last class, praying that today would be Mrs. Teal's nice day.
