I was perched on a rock, looking out over the valley. I was on a hike with a friend, who was sitting next to me.
"Isn't it beautiful?" I asked.
"Amazing."
I swung my feet back and forth. "Want to start hiking again?"
Instead of answering, Dede got up and helped me to my feet. We continued down the forested path. The trails were beautiful.
We got to a clearing and it suddenly got dark. There was a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder.
"Where'd this come from?" Dede yelled.
I looked up at the sky. Dark, rumbling clouds covered the entire sky. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled.
I saw the lightning heading straight for me. Time slowed and I heard myself scream. I felt the electricity shoot through me. I locked up, my jaw clenching. I blacked out and I felt my body hit the ground. I heard Dede scream, but my hearing failed and I passed into a dreamless sleep. I was out for a while. I knew that. But when I woke, I was in a completely different place than before. I was in a jail cell and I luckily didn't have any chains on my hands or feet.
A tall figure walked up to the bars. It wasn't anything like I've ever seen before. It was most definitely alien though. The alien was tall and had long, dark, curly hair and ridges on his forehead. I didn't even know if it was a he.
The alien placed a plate on the floor and kicked it under the door, making the food fly all over. I scrambled over to it and started eating. I had the sudden urge to eat and I didn't care what it looked like.
The alien inspected me and I did the same. He would've been attractive, but he was my capture. The alien muttered something under his breath and walked away.
I ate what I could and crawled into a corner. I sat in the corner, hugging my legs to my chest. I buried my face into my knees, breathing softly. I was shaking softly, terrified out of my mind.
I tried calming myself down, breathing in my nose and out my mouth. I had to survive this. I had to get back to Earth. No matter how long it took.
Hours later, the same alien as before came back. He gestured for me to stand. I scrambled to my feet and waited. He opened the door and stepped in. He had another plate of food in his hand.
I took it, keeping eye contact with him. He grumbled something to me, gesturing towards me. I just gave him a confused look. The alien shook his head and pointed at himself.
"Mazew," the alien said gruffly.
"Your name is Mazew?" I asked, knowing he wouldn't understand.
He nodded. "Mazew. PongwIj 'oH mazew."
I pointed at myself. "My name is Zari."
Mazew pointed at me. "Zari?"
He said it like it was strange on his tongue. I guess he didn't know anyone with my name.
I nodded. "Zari. I am Zari."
Mazew looked down and then looked back up. "Zari. SoHvaD nice pong."
I smiled. "Thank you."
Mazew left and I ate what he gave me. It tasted nasty, but I ate all of it anyways. I sat in the corner and soon fell asleep.
I was awoken by large banging. I looked around, already terrified. I stood up when I heard gruff voices yelling, the voices and banging echoing off the walls
The door flew open and an alien was thrown in. She landed with a thud and slid across the floor, hitting the wall. She groaned and sat up. She had tear streaks running down her face.
She looked over at me and she looked confused. She scooted closer to me and said something. I just shook my head. She held out my hand and nodded to it. I caught her drift and placed my hand in hers. My vision changed in a variety of colors and I saw multiple pictures.
When my eyes cleared, I was standing in a field. The alien female was standing in front of me. She smiled at me.
"I'm Ayala," she greeted. "I'm from the planet of Klalar."
"How are you speaking English?" I asked.
"I'm a telepath," Ayala answered. "I can understand almost any language just from touch. What is your name?"
"I'm Zari," I answered. "I'm from the planet of Earth. Where are we?"
"We're on my home planet," Ayala answered. "How did you get in the hands of the Klingons?"
I squinted as I looked around. "Is that what they're called? I don't know how I got on their ship. I just woke up and I was in their jail cell. How'd you get caught by them?"
"I was abducted," Ayala answered. "I was taken without consent. What kind planet of is Earth?"
I looked at my surroundings. "It's an M-Class planet. It had about seven million people on it when I left, though I don't know how many it has now. What's your planet like?"
Ayala bit her lip. "It's an M-Class planet too. It's very nice and almost completely covered with water. It has very little land."
I nodded and looked around. "Shouldn't we be going back? I don't want to be in trouble."
"We should," Ayala answered. "The Klingons are a violent and rough species. They aren't very nice to outsiders."
Ayala reached out and touched my arm. My vision blanked and when my eyes cleared, I was back in the prison cell. Ayala was sitting there in front of me, her eyes wide and she looked around. She looked back at me.
"Do exactly what the Klingons say, okay?" Ayala answered. "They won't hurt you too badly. They aren't as bad if you don't act up."
I nodded, wrapping my jacket around me. "I wasn't planning on it. I've seen the weapons they have. Those knives and guns are terrifying. I don't want to die yet."
Ayala and I sat in that cell for hours. I had almost fallen asleep when some guards came down the hallway. They were handing out food. The same guard who talked to me earlier opened the door and dumped two plates in the cell. He stared at me for far longer than normal. He only left when another guard shouted at him. He slammed the door behind him and looked at me again before leaving.
