It was a dark dreary day in Camelot. Arthur had been refusing to leave his room all day even going as far as kicking cath out. Around 2 in the afternoon the knights gave up and went to seek the help of the King's loyal companion Merlin. Once she heard of the boy's refusal the mage hurried to his chambers worried. The women pushed open the doors with slight ease rushing to his side "Arthur!" She cried "What's wrong?" The mage saw the boy curled up on his bed the sound of soft sniffling filled the room. She sat on the bed and gently petted his head trying to soothe him. "Please talk to me..." Pleading she brushed some of his hair to the side as he sat up slowly. "I-I'm sorry" the king stammered chocking on tears. Merlin just gave a confused look as she kept petting him. "I'm an aw-ful king. I know you proba-bly just st-ay so you don't hurt me." He paused thinking before shaking his head and wiping some tears. "No. That's..that's not it. My mind is saying that. My heart is saying that you do care but my mind..." Holding his head he hunches back over letting out a pained whimper. "My mind is killing me Merlin. I've been trying to fight it but it's so hard. I know you care I just wish sometimes...I don't know...I don't want you to leave me however if I keep acting like this you will." his body shakes violently as he sobs into the sheets. Merlin pulls him close to her not sure what to say but just let's him vent. The orange haired king clings to his loyal companion, his best friend, his mage, his everything in this moment. Nothing in this world could separate the two and he knows that but right now all he wants is reassurance. "I'm so sorry. I'm weak and path-etic. I don't see how any-one could really ever "love" me. I don't want you to go. I know I'm annoying, stupid, and clin-gy but I try not to be. It's just sometimes when I'm alone my thou-ghts act up. I know it's just my bra-in lying to me but it hurts..." Slowly calming down he remains against her clinging like if he let go she'd vanish.
