Freya

I was lulled out of sleep. Riley was still snuggled in my arms and sleeping soundly. I found it cute that he snored.

I bent over to take a look at his face and he looked much better.

I smiled proudly at myself. I had done this. I had healed my mate.

The banging at the door sounded again and I jumped out of the bed, reacting on instinct. Everything in my bones was shouting: DANGER.

I made my way to the living room and stared at the door. A couch and a whole lot of carpet space stood between me and it.

I hesitated then heard Dustin's voice and I started forward to open for him. Someone grabbed my arm before I made the step.

Riley.

"What?" I asked. "It's Dustin."

He shook his head and placed his fingers on his lips, telling me to shush. My blood went cold when I heard another voice.

"Why don't you have a key to your own apartment?" it asked. Definitely male.

"Because Riley can open for me," Dustin growled.

I looked at Riley. His eyes were panicked as he ushered me back to the bedroom.

"That's Ethan and Everest. Cole's betas," he said when we got there.

Cole was the alpha that had had me kidnapped. How had they found me? The water should have washed off my scent. I was only twenty years old, my Siren scent should not be that strong. But maybe it was. I had to get out of there. Fast.

"Look at me," Riley said, taking my face in his hands. "I wont let hem take you away from me. Now hide." His words settled a happy warmth in my chest.

He cared for me.

He went out and locked the door behind him. But I stayed there frozen in fear. I heard the front-door open. Then voices, followed by growls.

Footsteps.

Heading towards me.

"Wait, Ethan." neither Riley nor Dustin.

And right before my eyes, the door was torn off its hinges and sent flying across the room.

In the doorway stood a pissed off wolf-shifter. Dark hair, steely eyes......He looked familiar.

He clenched his fists and glared at me.

His twin --I'm not exaggerating, they were identical-- pushed passed him and entered the room.

"What are you doing here? I told you to leave the city."

And then I remembered. This twin was the guy who had set me free.

"I-I-" What could I say?

Riley and Dustin appeared, and shoved the angry shifter from the doorway into the room. Riley locked the door behind him, sealing the five of us inside.

Angry shifter sighed and massaged the sides of head with the tips of his fingers. "What did you do, Everest?" he asked, tiredly.

I knew that voice. I knew that feeling. I had six siblings of my own. This was something Ethan was not surprised Everest had done, but still something he expected his brother to know better than to do.
