Hazel's POV
"Sizzle, sizzle." Nash's grill had just started. The cookout is in 30 minutes, and I have no outfit planned. I wanted to make a good first impression with everyone. I wanted to look like myself, but then again I don't. If I dress like myself and throw my hair up in a ponytail, people might think I'm a guy. But, if I wear a dress, someone might lift it up by accident. This is so hard.
"Sup Hazel!?" Kaleb had walked in while I was in deep thought. "You look stressed. What's wrong?"
There he goes again, being protective of me.
"Nothing, you wouldn't understand." I said, hoping he wouldn't ask any more questions.
"Fine, be that way."
Finally. Some alone time. I do an eenie meenie minee moe game until I decide on jeans with a nice, fitted top.

When I walked over to Nash's house, about 50 people were already there. I was so confused. There were definitely not 50 people in my neighborhood. I looked around for nash, but he was no where to be found. I opened for after door of his house, hoping to find him.
Soon, I opened up to his kitchen. Nash, a little girl, and 4 other guys were standing in the kitchen. Nash was eating Doritos while talking to one of the guys. His eyes locked with mine. He slowly stood up straight and walked to me.
"Hey, you came!" nash said.
"Yeah! so..." I lowered my voice, "who are these people?"
"Oh! sorry! this is my little sister, skylynn," nash pointed to the little girl, "and that's matt, cam, and Hayes." He said pointing to three of the guys. "And that's my older brother, will." He said pointing to the oldest guy in the group. "Guys, this is Hazel Demmings. She's our new neighbor."
"Oh, hey Hazel." Said the majority of the group at the same time.
"So, let's go outside. I can smell the burgers from here!" Nash said, putting his arm around my shoulders. I started blushing uncontrollably. I could feel my cheeks turn 1,000 degrees hotter. I put my head down on his shoulder. He was the perfect height for me. He was per- what am I saying? I just met this guy! I couldn't like him already? is it possible?
I mean, in Idaho I had never liked anyone. I have never experienced this feeling before. I-I can't comprehend what is happening.
"AAAHHH!!!" at least 15 girls screamed when nash and I walked out together.
"What are they screaming about?" I said, trying not to damage my vocal cords from yelling so loud.
"Do you not have a phone?" nash asked, trying to not sound irritated.
"No. Sorry. What am I missing out on? is it something big?" I said sounding sweet.
"Oh, nothing much. Just that 8.6 million people know me."
He smiles shyly.
"Can I ask you something?" nash says, looking down dreamily.
"Of course you can." I say while getting hypnotized by his piercing blue eyes.
"Do you want to go to the beach tomorrow? you know, hang out and play in the water?"
"Is nash grier, the apparently famous neighbor of mine asking me out on a date?" I asked, shocked he would want to go on a date with me.
"Why yes. Yes I am."
Somehow this moving to Los Angeles thing is now the best thing to happen in my life.
