7: Expect a knock

I was so warped by what had happened, that I didn't know how to feel anymore. Or what to do. If Tae was on the news, that meant people would be after him - not just the police.
Namjoon...
Anyone who had ill intent against him...
Could just show up...
Right now....
Any second now.....

But there was nothing. We slept in silence, wide awake, but still. Waiting, and listening out for anything; The sound of footsteps on the stairwell, a car door slamming, approaching sirens, a knock at the door...

But again, there was nothing.

By sunrise, we up and eating those damned frosted flakes in silence. Barely looking at eachother, just slowly chewing the same mouthful of cereal until we were eating nothing. I decided, I wasnt hungry about 3 agonizingly long mouthfuls in - and got up to set down the bowl on the side.
Then I just paced. Back and forth across the kitchen, occasionally sliding a glance at Taehyung as I passed the hatch. He was just stitting there, gnawing at his spoon with tension, maybe wondering the same thing as me.
What the hell happened?

I finally found the urge to speak up, and broke the silence.
"Taehyung, we need to talk about this." The words came out articulate and calm, though I had intended them to be strong.
"I know. I've been waiting for a good time to tell you," He replied solemnly.
"When would that have been? What you did-"
"Was unforgivable, and beyond insane. But, I shot the guy as self defense, he would have killed me and others if I had not done anything." His eyes were sincere, I knew he wasn't lying.
"I understand, but you could have told me earlier. Now its too late, someone will find you." I choked, almost near tears again.
"They won't if we're careful,"
"But I can't live like this, all the hiding and pretending. You have to give yourself up, before others get you. Without a second chance."
He gulped, looking away in shame and downright fear.
"Your right," He said suddenly, in a small voice. "I'll go to the station tomorrow, and confess. Hopefully the Jury will appreciate my reasoning." Standing up, he ran a nervous hand through his hair, and with a final sniff of anguish- walked away and locked himself in my room.
God I hope the Jury will call him innocent, and I pray more that no one comes before then.

But as luck was never on my side, the most dreaded moment came.
At about 3:00am, a firm knock came at the door. It wasnt the police, as they'd call their name.
Tae was asleep beside me, his chest shallowly drifting up and down with each breath. So I threw on a hoodie and some sliders, carefully making my way over to the door. Unfortunately, my door didn't have a peep hole, so I couldn't see who it was. My head ached with the stress, but regretfully I proceeded to open the door...

Just like that, it was. The familiar face of a man I once knew, towered before my eyes, before snatching me up with a hand over my mouth.

I kicked and screamed as loud as I could, but the hand muffled the sound - no one came. No matter how hard I struggled, he still managed to drag me away to the back of his car with ease. That midnight color Volvo, how I wish I had remembered the plate number.

He threw me in the back seat, tied my hands with rope and put silver duct tape over my mouth. Moments later, he'd locked me in and we were speeding down the highway.

There was no escape.
