It was a Friday afternoon, about 2:45pm, and I had just come to the conclusion that we needed some groceries. Tae was relaxing on the couch, flicking through the limited TV channels I had.
"Hay, do you mind if I go out? We need some food in," I asked, hooking my bag on my shoulder.
"Yeah, no problem." He replied, smiling before continuing to watch a programme. I nodded, grabbing my keys from the hook, and leaving through the door. I was about to close it, when Tae called out my name.
"Yeah?"
"Don't run away on me," he said, slowly forming a snigger on his mouth. I rolled my eyes playfully.
"I won't, promise."
He chuckled, and I shut the door.

Friday afternoons were usually quiet in my neighborhood, but never as dead as it was that day. It was so silent, I was sure tumble weeds were rolling past in a haze of dust.
The 7/11 finally came into view, giving me a strange sort of relief.
*ding*
The bell to the store rang as i entered, and the shop keeper smiled at me from behind the counter. Some atmospheric music played at a low in the background, calming my mood as I selected items from the shelves.
Now, i remember this moment. The exact moment, when i was taking a box of frosted flakes cereal off the shelf , and the little box TV on wall flicked to the latest news report. I looked up... and saw Tae's picture.
In a wanted frame in the corner of the screen.
The commentary was too quiet for me to understand, so I read the taglines.
'Kim Taehyung wanted for murder of gang member Jeon Hyuk.'
My jaw parted, and I lost grip of the cereal box.
Oh sh*t.
Panic arose in my eyes, and as I paced down the ailes, the sound became a white noise and the ground seemed to sway.
I could barely concontrate enough to place my basket onto the counter. It was as if my body was on autopilot, as i swiped my debit card, and gave generic responses to the assistant.
Hopefully he didn't ask me any questions about my wellbeing. To be honest, he probably assumed I was on drugs or something, being a common situation in this part of town.
I took my receipt, my fingers tingling with numbness, and left.
Oh how unprepared i was for returning home, to the criminal on my couch.

I unlocked the door, letting it swing open dramatically, to reveal my glaring face in the shadows. Tae looked up, smiling at first, then flashing a look of concern.
"Y/N, what's wrong?"
I suppressed the anger building up, and played a breezy tone first.
"Oh, it's nothing really," I entered the apartment, swinging my bag off my shoulder, and dumping the bag of groceries on the counter.
"Your sure?" He pressed, standing up now.
...
I had to let it out.

"You are a f****** murderer!" I yelled, a tear spilling from my eye in shock.
There was a brief silence, giving him time to react and think of an acceptable response.
"Its not what you think,"
I scoffed.
"Really? Well it seems pretty clear to me!"
His pleading expression was warming the coldness in my chest, as I stood there before him in a broken state.
"You have to believe me, when I say I did it to save everyone."
"How Tae? It's still homoside for god's sake!"
"I know babe, I'm so sorry-"
"No, don't start with the apologies...and don't call me babe either,"
He shut his mouth and sunk into the couch, bent over his knees - hands on his head. Knowing the old Taehyung from high school, he would break into a storm of hate. However, the Taehyung that sat before me, broke into tears.
Although his crime was a painful truth, the emotion he showed made me fall for him even more. I came over to him, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. The shaking state of crying, suddenly subsided and a hand gripped mine on his shoulder. He looked at me, as I sat down beside him, and I looked back; not knowing what to think or how to feel. So we just hugged, sobbing into eachothers necks.

This man was a killer, but I did not hate him.

I could never despise a man I truly loved...
