[Ben's POV]

"Sweetie, we're really sorry this happened to Mal," my mom said while rubbing my shoulders. I haven't left Mal's side at all since she fainted. That was probably about a week ago. I can't sleep, not without knowing that something might happen to my Mal while I'm gone.

"Son, you need to get some sleep. Mal is going to-" "No, Dad! I'm not leaving Mal! Not while she's like this!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. My parents quickly left the room, and I just waited there for my wife to awaken.

The thing is, I don't know if she will ever wake, her due date for Benji was coming soon, and I was worried about both of them.

[Evie's POV]

I took Douglas and Eva down to the hospital where Mal was. My kids wanted to see their beloved auntie, but I wasn't sure if it was a good idea. I texted Ben earlier, but I got no response.

Eva was basically crying the entire time, because she wanted to see Mal. We got down there and sure enough, Ben was there with her, holding her hand. Douglas and Eva sat down next to Mal as I walked over to Ben.

"Ben?" He jumped suddenly and turned around. "Sorry, I just had to bring the kids over, they miss her." He nodded and turned back to his queen. She lay perfectly still. Lips formed in a small frown. "How is she?" I asked, trying to leave out the awkwardness that filled the room.

Ben ran his hand over Mal's and sighed, "still unresponsive, Evie. She's been like this for a while now. I don't know what else to do." I looked into his sorrowful eyes, tears forming under the eyelids. He had bags under his eyes. "Ben, when was the last time you got a proper sleep?" The king didn't answer.

"Ben, I asked you a question," I sternly stated. "A little over a week. But, that doesn't matter, I need to be here for Mal." "No, what you need is to get some rest. When Mal does get better, you're going to have to go back to work, and people don't want to see their king ill." He turned to me and cried.

"But, Evie, what if she wakes up and I'm not there for her?" "Ben, I'll watch over Mal. And if she does wake up, you'll be the first to know." He turned toward Mal and placed a kiss on her cheek. He smiled as he opened the door. "Thank you, Evie. For watching over her." "It's a pleasure, my king." He shut the door and I looked over at my best friend who still gave no response to anyone. "Mal, you need to get better, it's hurting Ben," I calmly said.

Her eyes were fluttering and her hand clutched mine tightly. Mal was going to wake up, and Ben wouldn't be there.
