The rest of the week went by extremely slowly, and I’m relieved when Friday finally comes around. I walk out of Spanish, my face breaking into a huge smile. I almost run to my locker, throwing in random hops along the way. As I swing my locker open, my bag and a couple of books fall out, but I’m in too good of a mood to get pissed of. Well, of course it slightly pisses me off, that means I need to bend down and I’m not sure if my legs are capable of that sort of physical exercise. I decide to leave them on the floor for now, and instead I swap my Spanish book for my English notebook, since I have homework. I take the opportunity to try and organise my books a little, putting them in height order. It’s then that I hear someone speak to me.“George, are you planning on picking your things up? I saw you drop them like five minutes ago.” Reece chuckles quietly as he begins opening his locker, which is conveniently to the right of mine.
“Are you saying you’ve been watching me for five minutes?” I smirk, catching Reece’s cheeks tinting a light pink colour.
“Who wouldn’t stare at you when you’re wearing those jeans.” He mumbles, and he must have thought I couldn’t hear him. I feel my eyes widen and my jaw drop slightly.
“W-what?” I manage to get out. Reece looks at me started, his eyes looking bluer than ever.
“I-I didn’t say anything.” He tried to cover up. I let it go, but my mind is still racing and I feel a small smile form on my face. His comment is boosting my confidence, that’s for sure. I’m surprised when I suddenly see Reece bend down and I have to look away to not get sidetracked. I few seconds later, he stands back up, my bag and books in his hands. I internally ‘aww’.
“Thank you Reece, you didn’t have to do that.” I say, smiling gratefully. He hands me my things, looking bashful. We finish packing and begin walking to the gate, Blake joining us halfway.
“Hey lads, what are your plans for this weekend?” Blake asks us, draping an arm over my shoulders. Reece shrugs, looking down. He’s still not very comfortable around Blake, but he’s getting better. In a way, it’s quite interesting to watch how he opens up and becomes more comfortable with Blake; when he’s around me, he seems perfectly fine, which in a way makes me feel quite special.
“I’m not sure really.” I shrug, honestly not having any plans.
“Are you guys not coming to the party?” Blake asks, giving me a slight squeeze before letting me go. I shake my head violently as soon as I hear the word ‘party’.
“Definitely not.” I’m surprised by how loud Reece says that. I turn to look at him and he meets my eyes before looking away.
“If you say so. Maybe we could go to the cinema or go for lunch or something, just us three, I still wanna get to know you better.” Blake says, turning his attention to Reece. I do the same, watching as he looks up with raised eyebrows and smiles a little.
“Sure, t-that sounds cool.” He says.

In the end, we decide to get some lunch before catching a movie, and minutes before I’m meant to be leaving, I’m still trying to decide what to wear. I’ve emptied out my cupboards, searching for my favourite black and white hoodie. It’s not like I’m trying to look good in front of Reece or anything... I debate whether or not I should wear the jeans Reece said I looked good in yesterday again, but I decide against it. Instead, I slip into a pair of tight black skinny jeans. I stand in front of my large pile of clothes, still shirtless because I can’t find the hoodie. I sigh, giving up.
“George?” I almost just out of my skin before realising it’s only Reece’s voice. Before I can say anything, my door swings open and there stands Reece. His face seems worried, but he relaxes when he sees me, before his eyes widen and he freezes completely. I notice his eyes skim my chest quickly and he bites his lip before meeting my eyes again. I blush ferociously before grabbing the first thing I can find and throwing it on. I feel embarrassment run through my veins. He’s seen me shirtless... he must be disgusted...
I can’t stop these thoughts from circulating around my brain. I’ve never had the best self-esteem, especially after him.
“I- uh- I’m s-sorry, I just, I didn’t...” Reece can’t seem to formulate a sentence, his face having turned a very dark shade of red. I’m sure I match him though.
“It’s ok.” I cut him short, and quite harshly may I add. I immediately feel bad when he frowns slightly, looking down.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to sound so mean.” I say, adding a small smile at the end. He smiles back, his faces turning relieved.
“No, no, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have barged in like that.” He says. I quickly scoop up my phone and wallet, stuffing them into my pocket. We both start walking down the stairs.
“About that, why and how did you barge in?” I laugh slightly, noticing how Reece isn’t exactly looking as comfortable as usual. And for some reason I don’t think it’s because of what happened before.
“I came a little early and I was waiting outside, and then when you still hadn’t come out ten minutes after we had agreed to meet, I got a little worried, so I just tried opening the front door and I got in.” Reece says.
“How early did you get here?” I ask, trying to hide my suspicion. Reece gives me a side glance before sighing.
“About half an hour.” I stop in my tracks.
“Half an hour?!” I gape at him, still stopped in the middle of the corridor. “Why didn’t you call me or something?”
“I didn’t want to bother you.” He mumbles. I frown.
“Reece. Reece, look at me.” I say, stepping towards him slightly. “You can come to me at 3 in the morning and you wouldn’t bother me. You could make me catch a fucking aeroplane halfway across the planet and you wouldn’t bother me. Do you understand?” I say, maintaining eye contact. Reece nods, and we both stand there, our faces merely centimetres away. I swear I saw his eyes flicker to my lips for a moment and for some reason I subconsciously edge my head closer to his. Before anything happens, there’s a loud knock on the front door.
“Come on you nob heads, I’ve been waiting outside for twenty minutes!” Blake. What a joy, hearing his voice. Me and Reece jump apart, leaving a few feet of distance between us. I take a deep shaky breath in, noticing Reece’s flushed cheeks.
“Coming.” I call, my voice breaking almost unnoticeably. We both silently walk to the door, me getting there first and opening it.
“Finally, you two are so slow! We’re going to end up missing the movie.” Blake exaggerates, coming forwards to hug me before pulling me away from the house. Reece trails behind, looking deep in thought. Could he be thinking about what happened back there? No, that’s not possible. Besides, nothing happened, and if it did, Reece would probably run away. He probably doesn’t in the slightest bit like me the way I like him.
“Stop being such a drama queen, you couldn’t have been waiting for more than 5 minutes.” I roll my eyes, trying to distract myself from the blonde boy.
“Hey, if anything I’m a drama king.” He jokes, making me laugh. I look back again, noticing how sad Reece looks, before grabbing his hand to make him walk at the same pace as us. And I don’t let go.
Hey guys!!
So, basically, I wanna apologise in advance if I'm not as prompt with my updates; last night we had a huge storm and our house got hit by lightning (sounds super dramatic but it was basically just a loud bang with a power cut lol) and our Internet no longer works. The only reason this actually affects this book is cause my iPad is usually what I update on and since I don't have Internet I have to do some complicated shit to upload hahaha
Thanks for understandinggg xxxx
