On Saturday evening, I find myself slowly pacing around my room, trying to get used to the feeling of walking again. It's been a while. Reece has just texted me saying he's coming over and he has a 'surprise', whatever that might mean.

Minutes later, my door swings open and Reece enters, a large smile on his face.

"Hey George." He says, quickly placing a kiss on my lips. I'm surprised by his urgency.

"Hi Reece, what's going on?" I ask, chuckling slightly. He grabs my hand wordlessly and pulls me over to my wardrobe, proceeding to grab a pair of jeans and a jumper from inside. I give him a confused look as he hands me the clothes.

"I'm taking you out." He justifies, kissing my cheek quickly.

"What? But I'm not allowed to. My mum would kill me if I snuck out." I murmur, looking between the clothes and Reece. Reece rolls his eyes, beginning to unbutton my shirt, causing me to raise my eyebrows.

"We're not sneaking out silly. You're mum told me she's finally okay for you to leave the house again. So, I'm taking you out." I nod and quickly slip on the jumper and take off my sweatpants, replacing them with the jeans.

"I swear to god, my mum is acting like I've been paralysed or something. I literally only had three broken ribs, a fractured wrist and a concussion." I huff, quickly running my hand through my hair since I messed it up. Reece gives me a pensive look before sighing.

"I don't think she's doing this because you're injured. You didn't see what I saw when you were lying on the floor, and then in the hospital when we didn't have a clue what had happened, whether it was serious, if we'd even see you again... she's just trying to protect you G. She's scared. And I mean, I am too. I don't want anything to happen to you." Reece says softly, his voice on the verge of cracking. We stand motionlessly in the middle of my bedroom, staring intently at each other. I sigh and bring my hand (that isn't fractured) up to his face to caress his cheek.

"I'm fine baby. Nothing is going to happen to me, okay?" I whisper, wiping my hand over his cheekbone. He nods and quickly bring my face in closer to kiss me on the lips. I reciprocate the kiss, tangling my hand in his hair and biting his lower lip softly. We part again soon after and Reece smiles at me, causing me to smile as well.

"Let's go." He eventually says, allowing me to slip on my shoes before grabbing my hand and leading me downstairs impatiently. I laugh and let him drag me along, saying a quick goodbye to my mum before we are out of the door.

"Where are we off to, Reece?" I laugh. He turns around and walks backwards, considering he's still in front of me and dragging me along.

"That's for me to know and you to find out." He winks. We continue walking until we make it to a cute ice cream parlour, making me laugh at Reece's cheesiness. He excitedly pulls me in, smiling when the bell on top of the door chimes.

"This place literally just opened up like a week ago and everyone's raving about how amazing the ice cream is." Reece informs me. This fact doesn't surprise me, considering the queue is pretty long. We're attended to quite rapidly though, and we quickly scan the flavours. I eventually pick out the cheesecake flavour, Reece going for mint-chocolate. Reece doesn't allow me to pay, making me growl playfully at him. We eventually get the ice creams and leave the parlour, Reece insisting he has somewhere better for us to eat them. The sun is beginning to set as we walk away from the parlour in a different direction. I bring the cone up to my face so that I can try the ice cream, moaning at the incredible flavour.

"Holy shit, don't make that sound G." Reece groans, blushing bashfully afterwards. I laugh and moan again, just to tease him. He punches my shoulder playfully and we keep walking, silently enjoying our ice creams. We make it to an empty beach, and Reece leads me to some rocks, we're we both sit.

"Now, we can watch the sun set." He murmurs, looking ahead at the beautiful sky. I follow his gaze, seeing the array of pinks and oranges and yellows coating the sky around the setting sun. The only thing I hear is the loud noise of the crashing waves at my feet, and Reece's steady breathing next to me. The evening air is crisp yet quite nicely refreshing, considering I'm only wearing a thin jumper. I sigh happily and lean my head against Reece shoulder, both of us having now finished out ice creams.

"George?" Reece breaks the silence, making me look up at him from my place on his shoulder.

"Hm?" I hum, allowing him to continue. He sighs deeply and grabs my hand, intertwining our fingers and bringing it up to place a gentle kiss on it.

"Thank you for everything you've done for me this year. Without you, I'd probably still have awful anxiety and my time here would have been a heck of a lot less enjoyable. Thanks to you, I've made some amazing friends, an amazing boyfriend, and some amazing memories. You believed in me even when I didn't believe in my self. You were there for me during one of the toughest periods of my life, you supported me and helped me through everything that was thrown my way. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I'll forever be grateful to you because of everything you've done. I'll always love you George, never forget that." Reece murmurs softly, making my eyes water slightly. I sniff and quickly place a soft kiss on Reece’s cheek and in return, he squeezes my hand gently.

"Oh Reece, I should be the one thanking you. Thanks to you, I learnt to do something I thought didn't even exist anymore; you taught me to love again. After Jake, I didn't even believe in love. Just the thought of it sounded barbaric. You taught me that not everyone is like Jake, and you taught me to love again. That is one of the most important things in life; love, I mean. Thank you for not leaving me when you found out how messed up I was. Oh, and thank you for taking care of me these past few weeks, as well. You deserve nothing but happiness, so until the end of time, that is what I'm going to give you. I love you Reece, so fucking much it's almost scary. Almost." I whisper, wet tears now trailing down my cheeks. I look over at Reece to see him in the same situation as I am. We chuckle and Reece quickly places a hand on my cheek and leans in to capture my lips in a passionate kiss. Our tears mix together as our lips move against each other. I wrap my hands around Reece's neck and he wraps his other one around my waist, bringing me even closer than I thought was possible. Eventually, the need for oxygen becomes too much and we part, breathing deeply. We rest our foreheads against each other, completely oblivious to our surroundings, only focusing on each other.

"I love you George."

"And I love you Reece."
