Thomas POV
"Thomas?"
Blinking, I look up to Dr. Lahey and find her speaking to me.
''Wait what?" I ask her, confused. I got lost in my thoughts and don't know what we were talking about.
''You were telling me about that afternoon three days ago. When you ran into Laura?"
Oh.
''Oh. Yeah, sorry. I got lost in my thoughts.''
Dr. Lahey nods, as she writes something in her notebook on her lap.
She gestures to me, straights a little in her seat.
''Would you like to... Talk about it more?''
I frown. It is weird honestly, what I feel about that day.
''I... I don't know, I'm fine I guess. I saw her, and she tried to talk to me but Dylan stood up for me. He didn't let her come near me."
''And would you have liked to talk to her? Tell her to leave you alone?"
''Oh! God, no. I don't want to talk to her, like, ever again. That's probably why I'm fine today, because I didn't get to hear her voice. I want to forget her.''
Dr. Lahey smiles at me and nods. ''Okay.'' she simply says.
That's what I like about therapy. I get to tell exactly how I feel with my own words, elaborate if I want, and don't talk about it if I don't want to. It's a safe place and I like it.
''I'm doing better with anxiety, also. It's just in public like in crowds.. that's still a bit difficult but Dylan makes it easier. At home I'm feeling great, confident. But I'm looking forward to move out though.''
''I'm happy to hear that. What about panic attacks?"
I grin, looking at my legs. ''Not a single one since Dyl came back.''🌼
I'm happy when I walk out of the therapy today. It's getting easier everytime. As usual, Dylan is waiting for me in the waiting room. As soon as he sees me, he walks towards me and we hug tightly.
''You alright Tommy?"
"I'm great. Let's go.''We chit-chat in the car, talking about therapy and our future house that we finally chose. We chose it yesterday. Two days ago, we visited three more houses, but we definitely had a very favorite. We chose the second house. The one with the shiny bathroom, and big kitchen. We have to visit it again though, today, to look more into the details, and also the boring stuff like electricity meter, water supply, etc.
I'm not happy about that because I know that I'm going to get bored. All I want is to decorate the house, paint the walls, plant some nice flowers on the garden, and-
"Tommy?"
"Wait what?"
Oh my god. I keep getting lost in my thoughts today.
''I was asking if you wanted to get some hot chocolate on our way home? I feel like going on a nice, cute date with you."
Dylan smiles at me and I giggle. ''Who thought you would be so romantic, honey? But of course I want to get some hot cocoa with you."
His smile gets bigger and his gaze gets back on the road.
"What were you thinking about?"
"Our home. I mean, I'm not really excited about today visit, are you?" I whine. I even pretend to pout so luckily he'll promise to listen closely to electric and water guy (that way I can get bored peacefully.)
"Tommy... I'm not more excited than you are. But it's important to learn about those details, don't you think? Wouldn't want our house to explode after a week.''
''But...''
''Honey, if that's what's worrying you, I'll listen closely to the guys. I'll take notes and everything. Don't worry about it.''
Yes. It worked. Hehehehe.
''Thank you! You're the best!" I say in a hurry, high-pitched voice, cause I know he'll understand my little trap if I start acting weird. And, as I thought, he understands.
''You trapped me!!! I can't believe you!!!"
Anyway, we both laugh about it and kiss lovingly when Dylan pulls over into the parking lot of an ice-cream shop.
I quickly get out of the car and take big steps to Dylan's side of the car. Opening the door for him, I take his hand. ''Here you go, my baby that I love more than anything.''
Dylan chuckles. ''You're an idiot.''
''An idiot that you love !"
''Yes, an idiot that I love. Now let's go inside.''
The inside of the shop is comfy, cosy. There aren't much people cause it's a week day, so, all the kids are at school and well... It's an ice-cream shop.
We order two hot chocolate, with whipped cream on top and some marshmallows.
Even the mugs are pretty. I didn't know this place since it's on the outsides of London, but I think it's one of my favorite from now on.
''It's delicious.'' Dylan said, whipped cream on his lips. I nod and take a sip as well.
''You know honey, I'm really happy with you.''
Dylan lowers his cup and wraps his fingers around it. He smiles at me in the most beautiful way. Dyl is always gorgeous anyway.
''I know, baby. I'm really happy with you too.''
''I mean...you're my safe place. You're the one that can make me feel in peace and loved and wanted. You're so kind, and soft, and sweet, and perfect. You're the love of my life.''
''Come here.''
I stand up from my seat and join Dylan on his side of the table. He hugs me tight, holding me by the waist and kiss my temple.
''You're mine too. The love of my life.''🌼
I didn't know you could go from paradise to hell in only half an hour but apparently, I've still got a lot to learn about life.
Electric Guy. Is. So. Boring.
They keep explaining things to Dyl that don't make sense to me. Dylan seems to understand though and since I'm bored, I tried to distract him and get him to laugh by looking at him funny. At first he laughed, then he chuckled only, then he nodded...and then he ignored me. And now I'm like. really bored.
Twenty minutes. Twenty minutes we've been here with electric guy. But, finally, Jesus finally, we move into another room. I gently grab Dylan's arm and whisper to him.
''Is it over? I'm bored.''
''Baby, I know you're bored, I am too okay, but we have to go through this. And sorry but it's not over yet... We still have to learn about the water supply, remember ?"Oh no. This is too much. My brain disconnects.
The worst part is when I realize Dylan isn't joking, and water boy opens the basement door.
The basement is way worse and even more annoying but thank God, there aren't any spiders. Luckily, we're quickly done with this and head back up to the living room. The current owner of the house gives us some last details here and there, and eventually, we take places at the kitchen table to go through the administrative paperwork.
And that is how, an hour later, Dylan and I are owners of our house. Our home. When the owner leaves, I literally jumps on Dylan and we hug really tight, expressing our happiness. The keys shine on the table. The house is waiting for us to decorate its inside. The driveway already adopted my car. This is perfect. We're perfect.
''Our home !" Dylan says, gesturing in the place as if to show me around.
''Our home. I love you.''
Cupping his cheeks, I kiss him and he kisses me. My flower. My sweet, baby flower.
I pull away from the kiss when Dylan's stomach rumbles like thunder.
''I know someone whose hungry.''
''Yeah. Let's go eat, please?''
''Of course honey. Let me take you to diner, to celebrate, alright? To our new life."
Dylan smiles and kiss me briefly. ''To our new life."
