Caroline's POV

"I don't get it," Rebekah tells me, a cup of tea in her hands and her body sprawled out on the couch with a blanket lazily thrown over herself.

"Hm?" I turn to her.

I've grown quite used to hanging out with Rebekah. It's been nearly three days since Klaus, Elijah, and Freya left and she's the only source of company besides Emily.

Kol, on the other hand, only talks to me when he wants to flirt. While he is attractive, I have a feeling if I ever remotely flirted back Klaus would be less than pleased. I laugh at the thought of it.

I do miss him, despite it being only a few days of his absence. The house is quiet without him.

"The way my brother acts around you."

"Who? Kol?"

"No, not that idiot. He always flirts with any girl who can walk and talk. Klaus," she answers.

"What do you mean?"

She looks at me as if the answer were obvious. I raise my eyebrows, and when she realizes I'm genuinely confused on what she's hinting at, she giggles.

"Oh come on, Caroline."

"What?" I pester her, gently nudging her leg so she answers me.

"He's in love with you, you idiot," she laughs and my jaw nearly drops.

"No, he's not," I laugh, pushing the subject away. Klaus? In love? That's just crazy.

"Are you completely oblivious to the way he acts around you? He would probably kill me if you told him to, that's how much he loves you. It's quite amusing, really," she raises an eyebrow, smirking.

I roll my eyes, "shut up. He is definitely not, I would know."

"Keep telling yourself that. Why else would he suddenly be on the hunt to kill Alexander? He could have done it easily these past hundred years but he decided against it. That is until you're at risk of dying of course and suddenly he's on his way to New York. No one would go to such a length to protect someone if they weren't utterly and completely in love with them," she smiles, looking back at the T.V.

I ponder what she said for a few moments. Is Klaus in love with me? I've never thought about it, but it makes sense.

"Consider it a compliment. The list of people my brother loves is very small, and I'm sure you're at the top. When he loves, he loves hard. He'd do anything to protect those he loves, and I mean anything. It's a wonder. Klaus, I mean. He's a wonder," Rebekah smiles to herself, resting her head on her hand.

I furrow my brows, looking at Rebekah for a moment. I'm about to speak before Kol cuts me off, suddenly emerging from the kitchen and into the living room.

"Hello, my dear sister and," Kol takes my hand, kissing it, "you."

I roll my eyes as he winks, plopping himself on the couch with a blood bag in his hand. His fangs suck the remaining blood from it.

"God, do you have to flirt with every woman you come in contact with?" Rebekah asks, disgusted.

"Yes," Kol answers smartly.

Rebekah rolls her eyes, "Klaus wouldn't be happy with you if he knew you were flirting with his woman now would he?"

"I'm not his woman," I cut in.

"No, which is why you won't tell him, will you Beks?" he asks with a small smirk.

"Maybe, if you act decent these following days. Annoy me or her once and I'll just have to call Klaus, telling him all about your flirtatious ways with Caroline," she blackmails him with a small smile.
