Sorry for the wait on the chapter! Also, did you guys watch the originals season 5 episode 1?! Klaus and Caroline were amazing and it was everything I could have hoped for :)

Caroline's POV

When we get home, most of the lights are off indicating Emily's already gone to bed. I sigh, exhausted yet still satisfied with tonight. I feel like I can tolerate Klaus just a slight bit more than I did before.

"I hope you enjoyed yourself tonight. I never meant to isolate you in my house," Klaus speaks up, his voice apologetic.

"I did, actually. It was fun, so thank you," a warm smile finds its way upon my lips. Klaus mirrors me, grinning.

I slip out of my shoes and coat, Klaus watching with intense eyes.

I rolls my eyes with a small smile, "you're staring."

Klaus can't help but let his dimples show, an infectious smirk grazing upon his lips.

"Sorry, I can't help it. You're quite beautiful..." he eyes me up and down, and I can't help the deep blush spreading across my face.

"Stop it," I look away, unable to stare him in his eyes without turning into a complete mess. The smile doesn't fade from his stupid face, enjoying me being completely mortified from a simple compliment.

"What?" he pesters, knowing what.

"Klaus," I groan, attempting to hide my embarrassment and failing miserably.

His annoying smirk only grows wider.

"I'm only stating the truth. I think you're beautiful, anyone with a brain would, love," his words alone make my heat beat faster.

"Well, you're not so bad yourself..." I admit, playing into the game.

I can't push it too far and make it look like I'm obviously flirting with him for a reason, I need to play it slow- make it look real.

"I don't want the night to end yet, Caroline."

I furrow my eyebrows, "so what do you want to do?"

The house is silent, the only sound coming from the two of us. The night is warm and the moon is shining and yet I want nothing more than to simply sleep.

"Share a drink with me," he offers.

"I don't know, I'm pretty tired-"

"Just one, please," he looks at me, and somehow, I agree.

"Okay, just one," I point my finger at him and he smiles, nodding.

"I want to show you something," he tells me, leading me towards the back of the hallway, a place I haven't been before.

Klaus opens the last door, revealing a long staircase leading down to a dimly lit basement.

"Is this the point where you kill me?" I half joke, half worry.

Klaus is a vampire after all. Who knows, he could be leading me downstairs to his murder dungeon.

He laughs, "trust me, okay?"

Klaus goes first, sensing my uneasiness. When we get down there, an extremely large glass display lines each of the walls, each slot holding a different bottle of wine from a different year.
