Eric could feel the strong tug of unconsciousness slowly withdrawing from his vampire body as he cautiously stretched his lengthy limbs with careful movements so not to disturb Robyn whose gentle breathing symbolized her peaceful slumber. He flickered his eyes; the dark light identified the arrival of night while his sensitive hearing picked up on car horns, heavy bass music and other normal sounds that correlated with busy city life. However, as he brought in the unnecessary breathe and repositioned his head against the soft pillow his eyes finally fell to the beauty laying next to him.

Her dark russet locks were shimmering behind her head as she rested on the pillows that were supporting her shoulders and her head. Her chest was falling delicately as she slept, a contented look iridescent on her features as she continued to engulf her pillow closer to her. Eric could not stop the smile from engulfing his lips as he continued to watch her sleeping, marveling in an opportunity he had yet to divulge in when it came to his time spent with his girlfriend.

However, the ancient vampire could not resist the temptation and reached out his large hand to softly brush the stray strands of hair from her face, curling the locks so it was neatly tucked behind her ear. He could not stop the ecstatic smile from washing to his lips as he watched her wake. Robyn moved her head into his gentle touch, the air whooshing to her lungs as she stirred. Eric simply adjusted his position, leaning over her as he rested his cold lips to her forehead, placing a delicate kiss to her skin causing Robyn to smile.

“Good morning my dear.” Eric breathed softly, watching as Robyn fluttered her eyes, her grey orbs unfocused and dazed before the final hold of sleep vanished from her body.

"Hey.” She replied with an unknowing smile as she too stretched out the cramps that had taken hold of her muscles during the hours of remaining in a single position. Eric simply readjusted his position once again, one of his arms holding his torso as he leant his balled fist to the side of his head as he looked down at her, watching as Robyn leant partially onto her side so she could get a better look at him. She took in his un-styled hair, the perfect lines of his sculptured arms and chest and his well-defined shoulders as he leant protectively over her. She couldn’t help but smile as she reached for his free hand that was lazily draped across his stomach.

“How are you feeling this morning?” He asked, the hold he had on her hand tightening with comfort, “No more dreams I hope.”

“I’m fine really.” Robyn said with a smile as she playfully pushed on his chest. “It’s nothing I can’t handle. Besides, I’ve been suffering with the same dream for over five years.”

“I know, but my vampire side cannot help but strive to protect my bonded partner. It’s a part of me I can’t ignore.”

“I respect that. Just promise me you won’t act like it’s a big thing. It’s not, this doesn’t change anything.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t.” He responded with a smile before he leant down to give her a welcomed kiss.

Some girls looked pretty in dresses. Some girls held the air of a professional and confident woman and still look charming and feminine. So why did Robyn feel like she wasn’t one of those girls? She stood in her hotel room bedroom, staring at her reflection in the full-length mirror and thought; how the hell does someone parade with confidence in this thing?
