Chapter Six

STEPHANI 

Fuck I wince at the pain as i tried to get up, the memory of what happened came flooding back in my head. She saved me... Again, I think I should at least give her a little respect. "I see your finally awake." I heard her voice say, i looked around to see her sitting in the far corner of the room. "As much as i hate to say it thank you, you saved my life...Again." i mumbled i hate that she was becoming stronger than me i would admit.. i needed to be better both me and my men. "Well you're welcome... Although there was on point where i thought that leaving you to die might have solved this marriage problem." she smiled i couldn't tell if she was joking or serious. "I'll get going she said as she walked out the room."

After the doctor changed my dressing I made my way down to the office. As i opened the door i saw Ezra and Mark standing by my desk. "I see the big man made it alive." Mark jokingly said winning a cold stare from Ezra. Ezra was a serious man who took this job seriously but Mark, he was more playful. 

"That's nothing o joke about what happens the next time something like this happens and he doesn't make it out alive.. it leaves us all at risk." Ezra said. I took a seat "Not for long, when i Marry Alicia my Mafia will merge with her Father's and with the merge i will become stronger."  i needed her to Marry me as fast as possible. 

"We need our men to be stronger... Hell i need to be stronger, Alicia have been saving me way to much for my comfort." 

"So what do you propose we do in terms of training?" Ezra asked. i looked at Mark "So far the strongest among us is Mark and Alicia... so the two of them are going to train us." 

"YES!" Mark yelled as he ran out the room, i'm assuming to Alicia to tell her the news.

"Boss now that we are alone..." Ezra started i turned to look at him and i could see the seriousness in his face. " I think this is the time to look at the possibility that we may have a mole in the business." 

"I know there's no way anybody but my men knew where we were going to be that night," I looked at him again "I know that face, who do you have in mind?" i asked. 

I watched his face turned as if he was battling with himself "As much as i hate to say it...Jose' is the first person on my list." As much as i hate to say it i knew he was right we had to question Jose'. 

i watched as Jose' walked in the office his face calm as if he had no idea what he was here for. Me, Ezra and Mark all stared him down trying to read his face and composure. I motioned for him to sit. "So lets rip the bandaid off right now.." I started "Where were you the night i got shot?" I asked. 

He sighed "Lucy was attacked at her sleepover.. I got a call from her mother telling me that Lucy was attacked somehow they probably knew that she was my daughter and I worked for you." 

"What are the odds that your daughter gets attacked on the same night that I get shot." i said still staring at him. He looks me straight in my eyes as a sign of respect. I looked at Ezra and Mark. they both nodded. "You may go back to your duties." i said not looking at him. 

"We're back at square one."Mark said.

"No we train as planned, keep our plans small only tell who needs to know and watch every move made." i said as i left the office. 

ALICIA 

 "Yes father.. I know what i'm suppose to do." i sighed into the phone

"That means keeping him alive." My father retorted.

"Have you returned home?" I asked curiously.

"Yes it was time to come out of hiding, i have to keep this Cartel up for you to take over."

"Are the packages secured?" I asked " Those are the real reason behind me doing all this aren't they?"

" They are safe child.. just do what you have to do and it'll be all over." 

"Pappa do you really think that he knows about them?" I asked "Because nothing seems to be out of the ordinary on my side."

"You need to be patient child and be safe i've been hearing about those attacks on his cartel."

I heard the door nob click "bye dad give my best to mom." i say as i end the call. 

"so I heard the news, you want me to train you and your men." I say looking out the window. 

"Yea i figure it's a way for you to feel like part of the family here." he replied 

"You know I never got to thank you for saving my life properly." he said sitting on the bed next to me. 

"And how do you intend to do so?" i asked looking at him in his eyes... I think i'm starting to warm up to him and that might be a problem. 

"Well I'll find a way, I promise you." he said as he placed a kiss on my forehead. "When will training officially start?" he asked taking off his jacket. 

"Tomorrow at dawn I hope your ready because you and your men are at the bottom of the pool so I have to start from the beginning." I curtly said and he nodded in agreement. 

" Stephani do you really believe that Jose' would betray you?" I asked remembering That night. 

"I don't know..." he said sighing "We questioned him and he didn't seem to be lying all I could do is keep alert for right now."

I sighed wondering what would drive a person to betray their family. Love? Money? or both
