Three of a Bit

Jimin:

I escaped to the one place there would be no war, no grenades or gunfire...just peace. My town was crime ridden, no, not just stealing, civil war. Thankfully it should end in some weeks, these things don't last long, but do a lot of damage. I ran and ran until I arrived, my breath coming in short pants, my legs exhausted from running.

I sat down next to a lake, the view was amazing here.. just spectacular! Eyeing the many pebbles near the lake, I picked one up

1..2..3..4 and plop! The pebble fell back into the lake. I sighed, I could never get past 4, I was too weak. I turned my head to look at the sky. Purple, pink, and blue danced around the sky, it was a sight for sore eyes.

My lips curved at the edges, my eyes sparkled in the suns rays. "What do I do now?," I asked myself, school was a breeze...and nothing obscured me from my path to success and happiness.

Shivering, I pulled my jacket closer, it was the only one I had. The one jacket from when I was just a kid...when I had...parents. "No, don't think about that," I repeated to myself. "Don't think like that," I scolded myself, don't look back at the past.

Reach for the future! Reach for the stars! And never stop Dreaming!
I was carving it into my mind, those words. Focusing too hard on being positive, I didn't hear the shouts of some people near me.

I'd finally gotten back to reality when one scream got my attention. "THERE'S SOMETHING IN FRONT OF YOU!" it said. "A what..?" I whispered, it finally registered in my brain. My eyes widened, "what?" I turned my head, and there it was.

A medium sized grenade, sitting peacefully...just a few centimetres from me. It was about to go off at any second, killing me and destroying the most beautiful place I knew.

My arms are limp, and my legs refused to move. The shock must have taken over, I was trembling. Sweat, tears ran down my face, how long till it explodes?

"I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die, I DON'T WANNA DIE!" I screamed. Just then, an explosion went off.

Police Officer:

The screams of many people, and legs trying to escape. But once the smoke cleared, two people, were still alive. Those people were surrounded by corpses, but they were also surround by.....a force field.

It was transparent but had a tint of blue. Inside was a boy, no older than 13 hugging something. Something small, really tightly, both were curled up into balls.

It seemed the boy couldn't take much longer, the force field wavered and eventually faded away. I ran up to them, he was unconscious, I tried to peel his arms away. They were set on holding it, I tried harder, this time I picked up... a girl?

She was about 4-5, wide awake, tears flowing endlessly down her pale face. Comforting her, I called the ambulance and some backup.

Jimin:
Everything hurt, I was sore all over. Opening my eyes slightly, the sunshine was too bright, once I got used to it. I opened my eyes, squinting still, and tried to sit up. "Wait," I thought, this isn't my house, or the park..."where am I?" As I did, a head lolled over, I was surprised. I studied the face carefully before confirming who it was.

"JIN HYUNG!" I screamed, making him jump. He turned to me and smiled "You ok? You need anything?" he asked, his words were slurry and tired.
I shook my head, it was enough for him to skip work to see me. I smiled at him, but frowned on the inside when I saw the dark circles and pale face. The skinny body and messy hair, I knew he had it rough, but I never saw him like this before....

He looked so tired...I want to cry. Tears stung my eyes, I couldn't take it. He probably had to work a lot to pay for the hospital bills...

I felt ashamed of myself, I couldn't take care of myself. "What happened to me?" I asked, anticipation all over me.

"You were near a grenade, as it went off, I think you held on to a small child about 4. But when the smoke cleared you were in a force field, unharmed, and the child in your arms. You were unconscious, probably from the force field." He explained.

"Wait so, I'M MARKED?!" I screamed. He chuckled, "Yep"
