Later that day, Melissa had Aiko stand at her pedestal and sleep while she analyzed her memories. She checked off any key memories that have been revealed to her, and saw that almost all the first wave of memories was unlocked to her. She gave a slight smile, proud of her progress, but the worry in her mind stayed at the back of her head.
"What if she reboots...?" that thought haunted her more than anything. Aiko was the first of her early vocaloids that she had grown to love the more and more as she had worked on her. Of course, she had put her sister and brother at top priority, but that was before she had scanned the memories of the youngest member of the Sakine family. So many things had to happen for her to come to such an untimely demise, but that, she felt, brought her closer to the young vocaloid. All the pain and suffering she had gone through, she almost didn't want to follow through with her creation and just pass it on to the next creator. But she didn't. She was determined to make her new life a happy one, even if that meant suppressing as many memories as she could for as long as she could. The only other being that knew her love for the android was Kiyoto, but even then her mind couldn't fathom how much more Kiyoto must have sacrificed for her best friend.
Melissa sighed to herself and kept typing on her monitor, trying her best to fight tears as she remembered every memory of the two creations with vivid colors.
"You can't kill her! She did nothing to hurt us! Why? Tell me why she deserves to die!!"
"Because she will end up like her parents, worthless animals that will owe us the same debt."
"She doesn't even know what happened! She doesn't know why it happened! Please I'm begging you, if you have to take someone's life, take mine!"
"Even if she doesn't know, at least that wretched family line won't be in our way anymore. And I thought you wanted to see them suffer."
"I did! But things have changed, I don't want her dead! Kill her siblings! But please...just spare her for a while longer..." Kiyoto broke into tears and fell on the floor, feeling like the whole world was falling apart.
"By now they're already dead. If you want to save her, go and find her before I get to her first." The man stepped out of her room, walking downstairs, knowing exactly where she was.
Kiyoto looked at him leave, her eyes wide with fear for her friend. She quickly got up and grabbed her pistol, hiding it from sight and running downstairs and outside to look for him before it was too late.
Melissa wiped tears out of her eyes, and stopped typing. She stood up and silently sobbed. "Kiyoto...you did so much for her...I'm so sorry..." She looked at Aiko, sleeping soundly on her pedestal, and the tears came again. "And I'm sorry to you too Aiko...I hope your dreams are full of happiness..." Melissa walked back to her monitor, and quickly typed in a code to Aiko's programming, giving her two more memories to play, one of her best friend, and one of her soulmate.
"I'm sorry you can't know yet Aiko...but for my sake, please don't remember how it happened..."
