As Veronica and I were getting ready for the party, I felt...free for once. I guess she was right about having a little fun. Looking up from a book once does change your whole life in a second, and that's why I wished I kept my head down for a bit more time."This one!" Veronica's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I rolled my eyes at her outfit choices, deciding if I should've sticked with my original clothing plans.
"V, for the last time I'm not going to prom." I joked, making Veronica laugh as she searched for more options that I could pick from.
"Okay, okay...what about this one?" She asked me, letting me gaze over the look of the outfit. I smiled as she held the clothes in her hand. "It screams Betty Cooper for sure."
"Hell yeah it does!" I responded with a laugh while taking the clothes to go try it on. Once I came back out, I took a quick peek in the mirror. "Okay let's go!"

Once the limo took off, we headed towards the seats to watch the game. "So who is this guy again?" Veronica asked me, dying to know which player I was falling for.
Looking out on the field, I saw him with my own two eyes, instantly blushing at the sight of him. "Earth to Betty!" Veronica said, clapping her hands in front of my face.
"Holy crap, was I daydreaming?" I asked her embarrassingly. "Hey, at least you didn't drool like others would." She said with a small sigh.
"So I see you're checking out that cute ginger?" Veronica asked with a smile. I nodded as my eyes went back towards the field, watching him play.
"Archie Andrews is one fine guy, but he's dangerous Betty." She warned me as I shook my head in disagreement. "Dangerous? He wouldn't hurt a fly V." I replied with a small shrug.
"Okay B, I warned you. But we came here to get his attention so-"
"So what?" I told her, obviously annoyed at the idea.
"Betty, he obviously likes you. At least give it a shot, okay?" She told me with a small smile.
"...Fine."
We went over to Archie after the game came to an end. "Hey Archiekins!" She greeted as I held back my laughter.
"Hey Ronniekins!" He greeted back, playing along.
"Betty has told me a lot about you." Veronica told him with a laugh.
"Oh really?" He replied with a smile. I nodded, following Veronica's lead.
Obviously, I don't know how to flirt, or even be cute. But for some reason, this guy really liked me for me. I just didn't know it yet until we started talking to each other.
"Yeah! How about you two go catch up? I'll catch you later Betty." Veronica suggested, winking at me as she made her way out.
I looked over at Archie with a small smile. "I'm sorry...she honestly can be a pain in the ass sometimes."
I heard him laugh which made me smile even more. "Yeah...so how much exactly did you say about me?"
"Not much at all." I replied softly with a laugh. "You're not like the other guys here, you seem...nice."
"I hope that's a good thing."
"Yeah...really good."
There was a moment of silence between the two of us as the people who surrounded us went on with their conversations.
"We should catch up though, maybe not when we're on the field really late?" He asked, receiving a dorky laugh from me.
I gave him a small nod. "Yeah, I'd like that." I responded with a smile and just like that, I walked back home.
At that moment, Archie Andrews had stolen my heart. He'd kept it locked up in some sort of cage until it finally broke into pieces. Sometimes I look back and think that I took Veronica's warning for granted. That I may have been smart when it came to books and very dumb when it came to love.
