The Fourth Interlude

It's hard to push away the darkness. The Entity wants me dead, I can feel it. As a medium, putting up a block between It and me is becoming hard, but I know if I let it in, I will die.

Conrad came to me today. He tells me that the Entity has grown and the monster that caused his death has started again.

I have secluded myself, and I rarely plug in my telephone. For ten years, I have retreated into the outback, far out past Secular Woods and far from the boundary of Sachem Bay, within the comforting seclusion of the hills.

Today I receive a simple letter from an old friend, Justin Wainwright.

It reads:

Dearest Jenny,

This is the only means of contact I have been able to find. Sachem Bay is not safe anymore: another child has been taken. We need you.

Justin Wainwright.

I reread the short letter several times until my eyes hurt. Then, I pick up the telephone.

Friday 15th June, 2018.
Jenny Cooper.
