The Last Interlude

I sit on the porch swing at the Boarding House. The town has finally been exorcised, and the spirits wander no longer. I have done my job and finally found peace for my little brother. My redemption is fulfilled.

Whilst I know this, I can not ignore the truth. I have a gift. A gift that can help other people deal with their inner demons and troubles. I want to help other people find the light, as I have. I won't retreat to my home and secluded myself, this time I will go into the world and use my gift for the greater good.

As I sit here, enjoying the warmth of the sun, the young boy Tobias joins me at the swing. To make conversation, I tell him about my plans and how excited I am to get out there and confront demons further than my own.

He sits there a while in silence, his inner clocks working away, until he speaks. "Take me with you."

"Excuse me?"

Tobias grins. "I'm coming with you. I have no purpose here, nothing left for me. Let me come. Please."

I think for a while and let out a nod. "Okay... I could do with some company."

I can't wait to see what the future holds.
