A/N: Thank you to each and every one of you who reads, votes, and even comments! I really appreciate it ❤️ This imagine's inspired by Like To Be You by Shawn Mendes ft. Julia Michaels (the lyric video's up there if anyone's interested!). By the way, the photo above broke my heart.

Bucky sighs as he hears you slamming the bedroom door. He knows he's going to be sleeping on the couch because of what he said, and he understands.

He said some hurtful words to you, as you came home later than promised. He thought about what you could've done in that span of approximately forty minutes. Were you with another man?

"Stupid, stupid, stupid," he mumbles to himself, plopping on the couch. He knows that he messed up again, and that means it's the third time this week.

Truth be told, he's terrified. He's terrified of losing you because he's said something stupid.

It's still a little bit past five. If he wants to make things work, this is a great time to do it.

What would he do, though?

He's tried almost everything. He offered to cook your favorite dinner, he offered to take you out to the carnival to blow off some steam, to which you declined not so politely.

He looks down at his feet.

Standing up, he puts his hand up to his face to wipe away his tears. He's going to make this right.

Inside the room, you're wondering how you should apologize.

Do you just kiss him? Is he still mad? You surely hope not. If you could put yourself in his shoes, maybe you'd be able to figure things out.

A knock comes on the door. You force yourself not to open it before you come up with a decent apology.

You hear sniffles from the other side of the door.

"Y/N, open up. I'm sorry," he starts, his voice breaking. "Please, baby. Don't leave."

You open the door and see his wet cheeks and his red eyes. He's been crying.

You pull him in a hug. "I'm not leaving."

He pulls you into him, sobbing softly. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry, Y/N. I didn't mean it," he cries, holding you a little bit tighter.

"I know you get worried when I come home late, Buck. I should've told you," you reply, kissing the base of his neck as you feel his tears dampening his shirt that you were wearing. "I'm sorry."

"I just..." he pauses, hesitating. "I'm just scared, baby."

"Scared of what?" you ask, confused. Him, being scared of you?

"I get worried whenever we fight," he pulls away slightly, wiping his tears,"because I know that I might lose you."

"You won't," you assure him.

"Promise?" he asks, furrowing his eyebrows.

You nod and lead him to the bed. "Tell me what's inside of your head, love," you say to him, knowing that he's got a lot of things going on. "No matter what you say, I won't love you less."

"I don't deserve you," he mumbles, shaking his head. "You and I both know that," he continues. "I just thought that you might have realized that and wanted to be with someone else because I can hurt you at any second, and you don't feel safe-"

You cut him off with a kiss. "Listen to me." You run your fingers through his hair lightly, calming him down. "You're not gonna hurt me, okay? I've been with you long enough to know that."

"But what if..." he trails off, avoiding your eyes as he sniffles. "I just don't know what I'll do if it happens."

"It won't," I tell him,"You've been Bucky for so long, and Shuri said that the trigger words are out of your system already."

"But what if it happens? If it happens, you just kill me immediately, okay?" he whispers, his voice so small that you almost can't hear it. "Kill me if it happens, Y/N. I won't be able to live with the thought of me ever hurting you."

"Bucky..." you cup his face with your hands, caressing his cheek,"You're not gonna hurt me. I know you."

"I might," he chokes back a sob. "Promise me that you'll kill me."

"Buck-"

"Promise me," he whispers, pulling you in tight. "Please, baby."

You sigh, nodding. "I will."

"Good," he says, planting a kiss on your lips. "Thank you," he continues, nuzzling his head in your neck.

"Let's..." you pause, thinking. "Let's watch a movie, yeah? Get your mind off things," you suggest.

"Yeah," he replies, looking at you while sniffling with a slight smile. "I love you, you know that, right?"

"I do. And I love you, too," you answer him. "I'll take a quick shower and we can go, okay?"

His eyes light up. "Can I join?"

"You pervert," you tease him, happy that he's back to his old self. "Come here."
