*2 years later*

(Maria's POV)

Today was Mackenzie's 2nd birthday. I've managed to keep Slenderman away from this child for 2 years with my pitiful lies and here's to many more.

Maddison strode into the room I was in with Mackenzie and glared at her. "Why did you have to have that" she pointed at Mackenzie. Maddison is mine and Kenneth's 11 year old daughter. "Because honey, we needed Slenderman to believe I loved him." I replied simply.

"But no one here wants her. She had weird powers and they aren't like dad's. Also, she's so pale! Stupid kid is blinding me."

Mackenzie started to cry. "I'm sorry Maddie but I couldn't leave her with her father. Not even she -" I pointed to Mackenzie- " deserves that." Maddison rolled her eyes and her hair caught fire. She growled and walked away.

Maddison was a fire type. She controlled the element of fire. Her father was an elementary-specialist.

Kenneth could control all 4 elements; water, fire, nature , and air. Madison only had fire for some reason.

Kenneth walked in with a purple, chemical smelling liquid. "If it's going to live in my house" - he threw a finger towards the crying child I was now holding - " it's going to be like me, and not like it's real father." He spat. He walked over to Mackenzie and Me.

He used his best baby talk voice. "Here baby girl! Drink this, it tastes soo good, Maddie drinks it all the timeee."

Mackenzie became quiet and grabbed the bottle with her tiny hands. She gulped it down and and squinted. She looked as if she were half way between crying and hurling. I quickly grabbed the napkin and threw it over my shoulder, bouncing her lightly and patting her back.

"There there beastie, momma's got you. Soon you will be better." I felt awful, but lucky she wasn't old enough to say "but theres nothing to make better, I'm fine just how I am momma. Right?"

I pondered. She doesn't know she's a monster. She was born this way, it's not her fault. I turned around to see Kenneth make a disgusted noise at Mackenzie and leave.

I set her in her crib and headed out to meet Kenneth and Maddie for a celebration of Mackenzie's birthday, without Mackenzie of course.
