(Sorry this is late I'm sick and I wasn't feeling well yesterday so I forgot to post, but here it is! I hope you enjoy)
I woke up before my alarm, and quickly got out of bed. I looked at the time. 'Wow 7:37. Why do I always wake up so early' I grabbed my clothes from my suitcase and walked into the bathroom. After I had taken a quick shower and changed into my clothes for the day, I walked out of the bathroom, brushing my hair and saw Zach sitting up on his bed with his head in his hands. He looked at me and I rolled my eyes, turning away from him.
"Don't think I didn't see that," he said as I heard his footsteps. I felt arms wrap around my waist. I tried pushing his arms away, but the more I tried the tighter his grip was. He put his head into the back of my neck.
"I'm sorry," he whispered. I stopped what I was doing. I turned around slowly, causing him to lift his head. He kept his hands on my waist and I let my hands rest on his chest as I looked at him.
"What?" I asked. He looked me in the eyes.
"I'm sorry,"
"I was a jerk yesterday," he looked down.
"And you may be right a little bit," he looked toward the ceiling. I looked at him confused. He looked back at me.
"I may have been a little jealous," I laughed.
"A little! You looked like you wanted to tackle him!" he smiled at my laughter.
"Ok fine. Maybe more than a little, but that's not the point. The point is that I'm sorry," he told me. I put my arms around his neck and pushed his head down to mine. I rested my forehead against his and closed my eyes.
"It's ok. I forgive you," I could sense that he was smiling. I opened my eyes and saw the small smile on his face. Without thinking, I stood on my toes and kissed his cheekbone, near the corner of his eye. He opened his eyes as I pulled away. I stepped out of his grip as he looked at me, seemingly shocked beyond words. I continued to get ready as he just stood there, in shock. I turned to face him while looking at our schedule.
"Hey Zach..." I was about to start as I looked up to see him staring at me.
"What" I said as I put my arm down to my side. He opened his mouth, but no words came out. I smirked, knowing that I had made him speechless. 'I could get used to having that power over him' I looked back at the paper and looked at what we were doing today. Today was Monday, so that meant that we were on campus. I glanced over what we had signed up for, for on campus activities. We'd signed up for archery today, that was the main activity. There were also others that didn't need signing up for. There's the Goliath swing, zip lining, rock climbing wall. There's also the three man swing, but I'm not into that.
"Hey Zach, we signed up for archery today, ok?" I turned to look at him. He'd finally put a shirt on and was wearing ripped jeans. 'I swear this boy used to live in a homeless shelter cause all of his jeans seem to be ripped' he looked at me and nodded. 'Why isn't he saying anything? He's always talking'. Once me and Zach were ready, we headed out to the metal building for breakfast. Not a lot was spoken throughout that time, which was weird. After I had thrown away my trash, I turned back to Zach to see him picking at his food. I walked over to him and sat in front of him.
"Are you gonna eat that?" He was startled and looked up at me.
"Are you ok?" He nodded, but I didn't believe him. I let it go and waited 'til he finished his food. Once he'd thrown his trash away, which took like ten minutes even though he had three small things on his plate, we had walked the path down to the concrete port where there were two basketball games going on, as well as, a Gaga ball game going on. I walked down to the Gaga pit and watched the game. There were four boys, two girls, and one staff member in the pit. Zach walked up next to me and put his arms on the wall of the pit. The wall with all of the people in it looked like a hexagon, which consists of six sides. A tall, brown skinned girl in the pit got hit in the legs with the ball and jumped over the wall. After almost everyone had gotten out, there were two people left. The staff member and a tall blonde haired boy. He looked to be my age. The staff member had hit the ball, getting the boy as well, causing the staff to win. Everyone cheered as the both of them jumped out. Zach patted the boy on the back.
"You're really good," he commented.
"Thanks! I'm Nathaniel," the boy known as Nathaniel replied.
"Zach. And this is Winter," they shook hands and Nathaniel nodded to me. Zach looked back to the pit as another game started.
"So how do you play?" Zach had asked, the tall blonde.
"Well to play Gaga ball, you can only hit the ball with your hands. If any other body part gets hit then you're out. If someone hits the ball over the wall, then the last person to hit it is out. You can only hit it once, unless there's two people left in the pit, then you can only hit it twice, which is called double tapping. Before the game starts you have to throw the ball up and let it hit the ground twice and that begins the game. You also may or may not scrape you hand on the ground while playing, cause I have several times," he showed us his newly scraped hands. I turned to look at the people playing in the pit. A girl had been hit right as I looked. I continued watching as Zach got to know his new friend. I hadn't been focusing on the game. All I could think about was how Zach looked at breakfast. He looked like someone had told him that his dog died. 'I wonder what happened. Why won't he talk to me? Did I do something wrong?' Before I could answer any of those questions, I had gotten hit in the face with a soccer ball. My hand flew to my right eye as I fell backwards onto my butt. Tears started falling onto my cheeks as Zach came down to my level.
"Winter, are you ok?" I shook my head, no, then wrapped my arms around his neck and buried my face under his chin. I let a few tears fall as he stood up, picking me up in the process. Several people asked if I was ok, I felt Zach nod every time. I heard a door creak open and slam behind us. He set me on my bed and knelt down. He rubbed his thumb under my eye, wiping my tears away. I winced once he rubbed the corner of my eye.
"Looks like you have a small black eye," he informed me. I got up and walked to my bathroom. Once I entered, in the mirror I saw Zach standing behind me. But what caught my eye, was the dark purple portion of my face. From the middle of my right eye to my eyebrow was a dark purple circle. Not a perfect one, but almost. I walked up to the mirror, while my hand moved to touch my black eye. It was bleeding, slightly, from the corner of my eyebrow. Tears slowly ran down my face. I pulled my hand back, once I felt pain when touching it. Zach walked up behind me and turned me around. He grabbed some toilet paper and dampened it. He slowly wiped away the blood from my eye as I watched him, wincing every so often. He threw the wet paper away and wiped my tears away with his thumbs. He leaned down and gently kissed where my black eye was. I winced slightly, then he pulled away.
"Thank you," I whispered. He nodded and smiled.
"Anytime," I put my head into his chest and wrapped my arms around his waist. We just stood there, in a comfortable silence.

Throughout the day, Zach kept asking if I was ok. I nodded every time, even though it still hurt like heck. We had finished archery and now it was time for dinner. Today there was a giant screen, in view of all the campfires.
"I guess we're gonna watch a movie," Zach suggested, turning his head to me. I nodded as there were people near us. I didn't care about the looks people from our school gave me. Lots of them were looking at me and Zach as if saying 'why is he with her?' Or 'he shouldn't be with her. Look at her eye! She's hideous' I mean they kinda hurt, but with Zach I ignored them. I know it's really early to say this, but Zach makes me happy. The movie started and everyone went silent. I wasn't paying attention to the movie. All I could think about was how Zach had helped me in the past few days that we've known each other. I noticed his hand on the ground holding him up. I readjusted myself so I was in the same position as Zach, but the opposite way. I reached the hand that wasn't holding me up over to Zach's hand. He jumped at the sudden contact and I giggled quietly. The both of us moved into a position to where we were leaning against each other. He put his hand on top of mine and I put my head on his shoulder. My eyes drifted close as the movie continued on. This day wasn't great, but with Zach it definitely wasn't boring.
