twenty-eight

The second Sebastian walked out of Laura's apartment he regretted it. No matter how much he regretted it, though, he needed a break. He knew Laura was hurting, but he was hurting too. He was grieving over his relationship, he knew couldn't magically fix her, even though he wanted to with all of his being. Being there all day, every day was slowly breaking down Sebastian. He needed some time away, and while he'll admit how he left was not the best, he had to get out of there.

Sebastian went to the only place he knew the directions to by heart: Chris's.  The two had been friends since they began filming the first Captain America movie. He called while on his walk over to make sure Chris was home, and luckily for Seb, he was.

After rapping his knuckles on Chris's front door, Sebastian shuffled his feet nervously. He was lost, completely and utterly lost. He had no idea what he was going to do when he was ready to face Laura again. A few seconds went by, and Chris opened the door, giving his friend a small smile.

"Hey, man. Come on in."
"Thanks, this really means a lot," Sebastian gave him a quick smile.
"Don't worry about it. Hey, I was about to order some takeout if you're hungry, it's on me."
"Oh, uh, some chicken lo mein sounds good."
"Sounds good, just, uh, make yourself at home. I'll go ahead and order, yeah?" Chris said while walking into the kitchen.

Sebastian took off his shoes and sat them by the door, then made his over to the couch. He sat down and closed his eyes, sighing as he leaned back.
Suddenly, his phone began to vibrate. Sebastian sighed again, thinking it was Laura. Once the bright screen met his eyes, his eyebrows raised. Laura's best friend, Kayla McHale, was trying to call him.
Sebastian accepted the call and pressed the phone to his ear, waiting to get yelled at. To his surprise, she wasn't yelling.

"Listen, I know this is hard for you, I seriously do. Just please, go back to her as soon as you can. I'd be there, but I'm not exactly in the right side of the States," she sighed. "Just please don't abandon her."
"I'm not," Sebastian said. "I just can't help her if I'm hurting too. She probably already told you that I just up and left. And yes, that's true, and I know that was so shitty, but I couldn't anymore, okay? I love her to death, everyone knows that by now, but I'm no help when I can't help myself."
"I know, Sebastian, I know."
"Listen, I'm staying at a friend's apartment. It's walking distance from her's. As soon as I figure this out, I'm going back."
"I'm so glad she found you, I really am. Goodbye, Sebastian," Kayla said before hanging up.
