My birthday is usually the worst part of my year. You see, when I was auctioned off to the Rogers there was a misprint on my birth certificate. Because of the misprint, they don't

really know where I was born. And on a jumpers birthday that jumper gets to go spend a day in their city of origin, so since my city of origin is still 'unknown' the Rogers have sent

me to different cities all across the state. So my birthday is usually spent in a place I don't know. So this morning I got dressed all fancy, said goodbye to Cora and Pluto, hopped in

the Roger's white limo and prepared for the worst "happy birthday, Jumper #1," Mrs. Roger told me cheerfully "my name is Lynn," I reminded her for the 6th time "well, anyways,

this year I think I got your city of origin right," she said with glee "where to THIS year?" I asked sarcastically. What she said next made me so happy I could barely think "Altos" she

said confidently "yes, that's right! That's right!" I got so excited I could scream... When the limo pulled up to the blue gates of Altos I nearly jumped out of the limo and ran to

the gates at the speed of lightning "state your name and business," a woman's voice said over a speaker "ummm.....Lynn Luna, jumper birthday?" I said. To my surprise, the gates

slowly opened and I walked in and was astonished. Beautiful, tall, pale cyan building on every corner, corner stores with people that actually look nice, no Tramps! I shuffled the 40

dollars I had rolled up in my back pocket as I looked at each tasty looking pastry in the window of a bakery. I walked down every street in Altos until I came to what looked like the

mayors house. I only guessed because there was a angry looking group of protesters outside the dark blue gates guarding the tall white mansion "DOWN WITH THE MAYOR!

DOWN WITH THE MAYOR! DOWN WITH THE MAYOR! DOWN WITH THE MAYOR!" The protesters were chanting. I'll tell you, those protesters stuck out like a sore thumb.

Wearing all red in a town consisting on pale and white colors. When they saw me, one screamed "guys, look! We can use her!" And the rest on the protester screamed "YEAH!!"

and three or four of them came running towards me and grabbing my arms and legs and holding me up in the air all stretched out and the last one picked up a torch and screamed

"MAYOR WILSON,YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS HERE. ONE,YOU COME OUT HERE AND TALK TO US. OR TWO, WE BURN THIS POOR LITTLE GIRL!!" I started to scream

"HELP ME!" But everyone just stared. The protester with the torch inched it closer to my core. Closer, closer, closer, until what looked like mayor Wilson came bolting out of the

giant mansion doors saying "stop, stop!" He was almost to the gates when he whispered something to what looked like seventeen or twenty guards lined up inside the gates.

"Yes, mayor," I heard one mutter before they all loaded their chrome shotguns and marching out of the gates and scaring all the protesters away which lead to me getting

dropped on my back. All the guards came to check if I was ok, then sent me to the mayors mansion. A maid led me to his 'study' where he was sitting In a black, recline able,

leather chair facing a huge window "I see you've found yourself in some trouble already, miss Lynn," he said "h...how do you know my name?" I asked. The mayor, who looked

about 64, turned around in his chair "because I know you better than you know yourself," he said. At this point I was kinda freaked out, who was this strange man who claims to

know me? "Who are you?" I asked "I am a fan of your father's work, a follower of his legacy," mayor Wilson said "my father? As far as I know my father was a baker..." I said

"no, no, no, miss Lynn. Your father was a great man. A leader of soldiers, a leader of people, a master of political speech, a believer of diversity, a beacon of hope for his era," the

mayor rambled on "I...I...i don't understand, my father was a mayor like you?" I asked "no, no, something much greater than me. Your father was the president of the country. He

Was elected 6 years before you were born and he took our world that was in shambles and created a diverse, beautiful, powerful, country. where we all fought our battles as one

instead of two. We were all connected and happy. When you were born he wanted to be a full time dad and elected Vice President Zander Kea as president. When you were two

When he and his wife met their untimely end and you were never heard of again," the mayor explained "well, as you can see, I didn't die," i said "I was auctioned off to a family

called the Rogers in Talion and became a jumper," i explained. When I told the mayor what happened he looked quite saddened "well, it's unfortunate that a young girl with such

potential became a jumper," the mayor said "yes, yes, quite sad," i said "well, it's 8:03, I have to go meet my family at the gates," I said "goodbye," the mayor said. After that

goodbye I bolted out of the mansion and ran to the gates. I couldn't wait to see Mrs. Roger so I could tell her what I found out today
