London. Sarah.
"The worst hell," Diana mumbled, proud of her French knowledge.
Will also gave her a quick look when Caroline blinked.
"How do you know that? The institutes have many enemies", said Will.
Caroline avoided eye contact and stood from one foot on the other. "I wanted to inform you at dinner earlier, but then we got interrupted so suddenly. On the flashlight was the exact same blue stoney. Oh, and there. Look." She stopped for a moment and pointed with her finger at the opposite wall.
The little group turned and Sarah held her breath. The black spot, which Sarah had seen as one, resulted in large, curved letters. A P and E.
"But how can aquarium become dust by a single preparation? And who is this Pirenfer anyway?" Sarah said, not destined to anyone. Jack turned his head in her direction.
"That's one of his many secrets. Normally, you would have to work the gemstone with tremendous force until that's achieved. "
Will stifled a snort. "Yes, usually."
Jack continued, "He's a longtime enemy of all agents, no one knows who he really is. Until last month no one knew how he looked like - but then a member of them was arrested and told everything he knew about the hell births the consul." Jack put his cell phone out of his jacket pocket and scrolled through his picture gallery. Then he found what he wad looking for and showed her a picture of a young men - with silver hair and cold eyes. Sarah had a shiver down her spine.
Jack packed the smartphone away. „He directs, just like his male descendants, the so-called "hellbirths". As they are now dubbed, they are the antithesis of us and are criminals. In the past it has often happened that members of each organization fought with each other, but every time they escaped. So far it has never been the case that an institute has been attacked."
"Even the informant comitted suicide shortly after saying everything he knew, to make sure Pirenfer couldn't find him", said Will, who had ears like a bat. „But the most important question is how the hell the bomb came in here. All doors were closed." Will crossed his arms, his forefinger losted his lower lip. „Maybe the set up a new machine with which they are able to go invisible or someone of us-..."
"Or else, the surveillance system ha/ a technical defect and did not revealed it when someone smashed the window in. Like it happened so often those last months," interrupted Caroline Will.
"Darling!" Her husband was with Tom in tow at the entrance to the warehouse. "What's going on here?"
As the head of the institute reported everything to her husband and Tom, they all went back upstairs together. Teaching was canceled for the rest of the day and Sarah decided to go to the library do distract herself with a book. When she murmured this as an apology, Will joined her. Just when they were both in the library, he broke the silence.
"So, haven't I promised to give you a good book?" He rubbed his hands together and walked purposefully toward one of the huge shelves where he climbed a ladder.
He picked up a thick, gray book, held out his hand, and dropped it carelessly. Sarah had to leap forward to lawfully intercept it. "The instructor. It's all about our origin and also contains very helpful tips for the duel." His slim fingers went through book by book in the shelf row.
"I was hoping for a novel or something like that." Sarah wrinkled her nose and looked up at him suspiciously. "Who's your favorite author? You already know mine, and do not say Astrid Lindgren or Mark Twain or something similar humorless."
