The vampire's shoulders drooped. His heart jumped into his throat as the racing mind he possessed jumped back to Gumball's taste, the feel of the prince pressed against him. Then the vampire felt a shooting pain through his chest, the pain he knew that we would have to encounter every day without that touch he desired so badly.

The words of "news" Gumball had spoken were not at all expected, and were not on well received ears.

"Marshall..."

"Yeah, Bubba?" The vampire looked happily across the prince's features, his dark red eyes giving away his happiness.

"I'm engaged."

That was it. That was all that was said beyond Gumball's feeble attempts to explain himself to the vampire, who now knew that he'd been only an idiot to assume that he actually had feelings for someone, or to think that maybe this prince before him wanted anything to do with him.

"I knew it." Marshall spoke with force, his voice coming out sadly.

"Knew what? Marshall I'm sorry this was all so sudden and I...!" Gumball stopped speaking when the Vampire King turned on his heels, and spoke in a low tone. His words resonating with the prince entirely.

"I was meant to be alone, Prince Gumball. That's how it should be." Marshall took a hand to push a piece of hair behind his ear, a harsh laugh passing his lips as he kept his back to the prince, the moonlight shining through the window in the prince's dimly lit bedroom. "Forget about me. I'll forget you. Hell... I already have."

"Marshall wait!" The pink prince desperately yelled after the vampire with everything he had, his heart breaking.

But it was too late.

Marshall was gone.

Marshall didn't even realize that he was crying.

--

Marshall sat up on his dark red couch, wiping his puffy eyes from his tears the night before as he heard a rapping at the door.

"Buy your exclusive news booklet from the Candy Kingdom! Extra! Extra! Read all about it!"

With a long, dramatic sigh, the graceful vampire dragged himself from bed, expending all of his will power to open the door and toss a few pieces of red candy at the child as payment, before snatching the news paper away from the child's grubby hands.

Marshall sat himself at the dark wooden table in his dining room, his head in his hands as he read the main article; the words transporting him to a dark place in his mind...

"Today the Candy Kingdom has received word of great news from Prince Gumball himself. Our beloved prince is engaged to none other than Lady Cresta of the Nightosphere. This civil union shall create a loving bond between our previously conflicted kingdoms, and hopefully unify them as a single, powerful nation that does not believe in the material conflict of the world outside of Aaa. Furthermore, the prince would like to thank all of his loyal subjects for their continued support, and thank you all ahead of time for any well wishes regarding the engagement of these lovebirds."

Marshall cringed as he read the word "lovebirds," but continued to read the article.

"There will be a ball held at the Candy Kindom's royal palace, exactly four months from the date of this announcement for the pair to formally recognize their engagement. In conclusion, this is a joyous day, for the people of Aaa."

Marshall slammed his fist on the table, his dark red eyes blazing in denial.

He continued to pound on the table, until the banging of his hands brought the vampire back to a time long ago, where his electric guitar strummed the same steady rhythm...

Marshall's voice rang out over the sound of his guitar filling the air that seemed warm around him. Whenever he was with her, he felt warm, no matter what.

"Cresta! I learned some new chords today. Thank you for teaching me." Marshall grinned down at the gorgeous girl standing on the ground below him, lowering himself to place a lingering kiss to the top of her head, his body still floating in the air.

The girl was of a lanky build, her light blonde hair falling in curls around her shoulders. Her piercing blue eyes made Marshall's heart race. She was rare. A pure vampire.

The white she wore signified that. She did no wrong.

Her white skirt went to just above the knee, her similarly colored crop top's bottom hem coming to her belly button, revealing the golden skin beneath all the fabric.

"Marshall..." Cresta whined, her voice mixing in with a musical laugh. "Get down from there! I agreed to help you learn, but only because you said we could watch the movie I wanted to order." The girl vampire stomped her foot, bright blue eyes glowing in the dimly lit room as Marshall lowered himself fully to the ground, placing his guitar in the corner of the room, before flopping down on the white couch, making a gesture for Cresta to join him.

Cresta's eyes lit up as she jumped into Marshall's arms, a victorious smile turning up the corners of her lips as she placed several quick kisses along his neck and jaw. Marshall couldn't help but to smile as the movie Cresta had ordered began.

It turned out to be some terrible chick flick, that even Cresta didn't like, so they'd ended up making out the entire time. Don't get him wrong, Marshall loved that, and he had something that he'd needed to say that day.

With this girl on his lap, his arms wrapped securely around her waist, he spoke calmly, and evenly. "Cresta, Lady Cresta of the Nightosphere?"

Cresta raised an eyebrow, a questioning look in her blue eyes as she looked over Marshall's facial expression.

"I love you."

Cresta's eyes widened before pressing a soft kiss to the vampire's lips, her voice an uneven whisper. "I love you too, Marshall Lee."

Marshall was awakened from his daydream by the sound of his own screams.

"Cresta..." He murmured. "You continue to fuck up my life, don't you?"
