It was Tuesday, the second day of school.
"Gardening class! This is going to be fun!" Sally said excitedly. She has always been a nature and animal lover. She owned a cat and a dog, and also had a flower garden in her backyard.
"Maybe for you. I've never successfully planted a flower in my life. Hopefully I don't accidentally kill all the crops in this field." I joked.
"Don't worry about that, I can help you." She replied. "Pay attention, class is starting."
"Okay, listen up, everyone! My name is Ms. Garcia and today each of you will be planting a flower seed. It's a random mix, so no one knows what flower they're going to get until it sprouts. Then you water it, and after you're done, you can help with watering the crop field on the other side. Alright, everybody, go get your supplies from the shed to your left." Ms. Garcia instructed us.
Everyone started chattering excitedly and walking over to the shed. Sally practically pulled my arm and dragged me over there, trying to get there first.
"Come on, Ellie! Hurry up, or we won't have supplies!"
"Okay, okay." I smiled at Sally. She was really enthusiastic about nature, just as I am about swimming.
A realization occurred to me. Since I enjoyed swimming, I received water powers. Maybe Sally could have nature or earth powers?
We were one of the first ones to arrive at the shed, and Sally didn't hesitate to pick up a pack of mixed flower seeds, shovels, gloves, and two watering cans, handing one to me.
"Thanks." I said, taking the watering can and filling it up with water. "You can go pick a spot for us to plant the flowers."
"We should use the corner, so we can remember where it is." She filled her can after I was done with mine.
"Yeah, good idea." I put my gloves on and grabbed a shovel. Sally did the same and we started walking over to the nearest corner of the field.
"So, about yesterday. Did anything else happen?" Sally asked, as we started digging into the soil.
"No, not yet. Also, I might have a theory about your powers."
"Really?" Her eyes lit up. "What is it?"
"Since I am good at swimming, and my stone is blue, I have water powers. I think you might get nature or earth powers, since you are very enthusiastic about nature and living things, and your crystal is green." I placed a few seeds into the soil and then covered it up. Sally did the same.
"That makes so much sense now! You are most likely correct. I think we were destined to receive these crystals." She grinned at me. "I can't wait to see what I can do!"
"Yeah, this is so cool! You know, I would've never believed that magic existed, not if we never found the stones." I grabbed the watering can and watered my plant and Sally's.
"Same for me. This is such a unique experience, and I feel honored to be part of it." We started walking to the garden on the opposite side. "Hey, you know how I said I would introduce you to Matt? He's right over there." She pointed to a handsome boy with blond hair and hazel eyes, who was currently watering the carrot crops.
"Ooh, someone's got a crush!" I teased Sally as we ran over to him.
"Hush, Ellie! I don't have a crush on him. I just met him yesterday."
"Whatever you say, Sally. Whatever you say."
"Hey Matt!" Sally smiled at him. "This is my friend, Ellie."
