Jeremy sighed again obviously trying to get my attention as I sat there doing my homework and trying my best to ignore him. He grumbled to himself and then threw a pillow at my head.
"Hey!" I complained and he rolled his eyes.
"I'm bored! Let's go do something." He whined. I raised my brow at him and he stuck his tongue out at me. "I know I'm whining again... I don't care, let's go."
He stood and I shook my head amused, but got up anyway. I took the time to stretch and he grabbed my hand and pulled me.
"Come on you slow poke!"
"Alright! Alright!" I said giving in.
We ended up going to the movies and as he ordered us popcorn I went to the bathroom. While in the stall I heard Katie Reece and Briana James talking. They were the most popular girls in school and they were always gossiping about everyone. I was surprised they even knew my name though. I didn't think I was that well known.
"I think you're wrong Bri. That Amber girl is with Jeremy so her and Nathan are not into each other. There's no way it'll happen I mean Amber and Jeremy have been together for like years now."
"I don't know... You haven't seen the way Nathan looks at her. He doesn't even talk to any girls at school, but Jenny said that they were talking in 5th period yesterday and then Marcy said she saw them at the diner together and then Henry said he saw them at the park and that they kissed."
They were quiet for a second and then Katie spoke. "I think it's just rumors. Even if they were together, I don't think they kissed. Girls like Amber don't cheat on their boyfriends and have you seen Jeremy Leary?? He's HOT!"
Briana laughed as she washed her hands. "Yea he's hot, but I think Nathan is wayy hotter."
"So how do you think Amber got a guy like Jeremy? I mean she's pretty, but not hot enough to land him. I mean he should be with like one of us."
"I think they've been friends since like they were really really little.. maybe even diaper days. So you know, I think when you've been with someone that long it makes sense to date them or fall in love with them at some point." Briana said sounding nonchalant.
"You know I think we should adopt her.. we could make her really pretty and she'd be our third."
"Hmmm... I'll think about it." Briana fixed her hair and then they walked out.
I thought about what they said. Did I want to be their third? Did I want to be popular? I came out of the stall and washed my hands then went back to the lobby where Jeremy was waiting.
"It's about time!" He said pushing the popcorn at me as he picked up our drinks. I laughed at how impatient he was and walked with him. I felt like I was being stared at so I turned and saw Briana and Katie staring at Jeremy and I. They smiled at me and waved and I smiled in return. Jeremy glared in the direction I was looking at obviously thinking it was a guy I was staring at, but when he saw it was Briana and Katie he smiled and then with a hand at my waist lead us into the movie.
