“H…. h..w c..m… …ou’re s..ill a…eep?”

“Huh?,” the weird voice abruptly woke up the girl.

“Kouanto! I said, how come you’re still asleep?” Every word was now audible.

“Oh.. Dunno…. Why? What time is it?” Replied the girl with the auburn hair.

“It’s eight o’clock! And school starts in fifteen.. And the distance-“

“Fuck,” stated Kouanto, interrupting her friend’s words.

“Uhmm..,” she continued “You just go ahead, I’ll come as soon as possible... Bye!”

And so she rushed into the bathroom. She washed her face and teeth. But still. She wanted to take a bath, even if she knew she had no time. With it, she wanted to wipe away everything. Every single thought. Every single emotion.

She didn’t. She refused to let go off things that easily.

’What am I talking about?’, she asked herself realizing her bad premonition.

“Tch”, she exclaimed as she tried to drive it out.

She wore one of her usual outrageous outfits, together with half gloves- even if it was heat outside-.

Her dressing code was quite unreal,-even for a demon-; a white shirt, which was revealing one of her shoulders and part of her cleavage, while the lace of her reddish bras was prominent. The lace fitted perfectly with the shirt’s white patterns as well as with the belt of her denim shorts. Her shoes were red heels, just like the color of her nails. Her hair were tied up half in a ponytail, and the other simply down. Her makeup consisted of a blue pencil on the lower eyelid, a mascara and a red lipstick.

She knew that with such clothes she was causing provocation, but gaining attention, feeling liked, was something she always wanted.

As she opened her accessories box, she quickly grabbed a couple of rings for her thumbs, many bracelets, a necklace with a red heart and a lip-ring.

She had only just recently pierced her lips, making it the first time she’d ever wear such a thing.

The girl sighed. It was already 8:20. She hastily took an apple with her and ran towards school.

As she reached school –about  10 minutes later-, she decided to skip first period. It was already too late, not mentioning  that she had to regain her breathing pace.

Sitting at a bench outside school, she decided to listen to music. As she changed from one song to another, she realized how depressing they were, aggravating her mood.

“Humph..,” she bubbled. “A school for all magical creatures; For ALL. No fighting and we actually get along pretty well… After all my three best friends are angels.”, she was now reading her thoughts aloud “…But..,” she added, “What if a war takes place? What will happen then?”

“Everything will be ruined,” said a figure who was now approaching her.

“R-Ruined?” Inquired the girl in a puzzled expression.

“Everything is GOING TO BE RUINED,” added the boy, confusing her even more.

She jarred to halt. What did he mean?

“Haven’t you heard about the forthcoming war?” asked the guy.

“Wh-What?” The girl gulped. No. There couldn’t be a war. Then everything…Everyone…

“Shh~ Don’t worry.” Kouanto still wasn’t reassured. Her hands were shaking. She was feeling dizzy, her stomach was piercing her.

“What will happen exactly?,” she managed to utter.

“I think that you, demons, want to take over everything. But we’ll stop you. Hell, I’ll stop you. Even if I have to fight You, Kouanto..”

“No..”…”Nooo!,” repeated the girl in a determined tone. “I will never agree to join up demons. I may be one of them, but I can’t fight my friends, my… my everything, just for power. I’d rather fight alongside angels”

She immediately gasped with her last sentence. Was she betraying her own kind? Her family?

“What did you just say?” ‘R’ had overheard the two speaking.

“Will you abandon your own family?,” he spoke, his eyes piercing her.

Kouanto could not bring herself to meet his gaze.

“I don’t think it’s fair, justice, to fight against them for no reason...” Her voice was broken glass.

“There IS a reason,” the blue-eyed began his lecturing, “and that is, we ALWAYS follow our superiors.”

“No! We need to use logic and critical thought. We have to use our brains. We shouldn’t let ourselves be manipulated by others. We aren’t utensils!”

She could feel the boy’s eyes getting cold with anger. She understood that he knew she was right. However, and for some weird reason, a voice deep down her kept screaming her to shut up, not to speak.

“You know…That’s it. You may have demonic powers –or whatever- but you’ re not one of us anymore.” His mind was engulfed by rage.

“Fine by me! I don’t want to belong to a family which kills my friends just for power.” The words burnt her tongue as she screamed them.

And if it was only that. She felt as if a knife was pieced through her heart. Her body wanted to break.  To fall on the boy’s knees, begging him to take her back. No. Likewise, she could at least leave with her chest stuck out proudly. And so she did.
