Hello folks! Here's a new one from me. I've only got one request, please read what I have written in bold. It's important.
Dedicated to the Mother Divine
I
Her eyes looked terrified, but she needed to calm down. I could hear voices of anger and aggression, and I could see fire being thrown around me. The graying sky above me rumbled, expressing its unhappiness. But her eyes were there, staring at me."Aedan, I've never done this before."
"I'm right here, you'll be fine," I assured her.
She took a deep breath and put her arms up, just the way I taught her. I could still sense the fear inside her and I moved slightly closer to her, right behind her.
"Shoot," I said.
Her right hand moved forward, in a punching motion and a burst of fire came out. Come on Kali, I told myself, perform the combination.
"Kali, the combination I taught you," I voiced out. "You need to do that, there are at least twenty other fire summoners here who wouldn't wait a second to disarm you and take your scroll."
The arena was growing in commotion, fire summoners who were training in the defence sector or Shrinsa were all here for practice, disarming each other to obtain the opponents' scroll. About twenty to twenty five fire summoners randomly roamed the arena, randomly picking opponents to get their scroll. It was a little training exercise that Ziachem introduced. The goal was, of course, to obtain as many scrolls as possible. Scrolls bought you prestige, rank and most importantly, more element summoning techniques.
[shrinsa- term for courageous union of defence sector of the clan.]
"Easy for you say, Aedan. You've always been brilliant at fire summoning," Kali huffed in response, trying to follow the combination by swinging her body and kicking with her left leg.
I sighed. "Kali, it isn't—"
She cut me off, "in fact, I bet Ziachem thinks you're a prodigy."
"Not true."
"Oh, very true. Haven't you noticed that no one has even tried to disarm you?"
Just before I could respond, a boy came close to Kali to disarm her. Luckily she was prepared and dodged his attack. His ball of fire hurled towards me, before I joint my hands and closed my eyes to stop the fire. I decided to return his attack of fire back to him by controlling my chi to throw his fire back to him.
My hands gently enveloped the fire and shot it back. He eyes followed the fire and he reacted by moving his forearm upwards to summon a shield to prevent my attack. At an extremely quick speed, he brought his shield down and opened out his fingers. I could already sense what he was about to do.
"Kali move out of the way! He's going to—"
I pushed her out of the way, and just as I anticipated, fire in the shape of a claw came straight at me. I bent down low and swung my left leg to create some imbalance in his footing by sending a line of fire towards his feet. He jumped up in a backward motion and narrowed his eyes, I could see that he was determined.
