"The four clans were originally one large clan on the easternmost crown of the world, Lutari Miehl. As you know, Lutari Miehl was one large island, a continent, if you will. The people of Lutari Miehl could summon one of the four elements, either earth, fire, water or air. But as it came to be, people were unhappy and in a continuous state of suffering because of the wars that occured and the battles that ensued. The constant warring between people happened because of such vast differences in different parts of Lutari Miehl."The people near the oceans, they did not agree with the ways of the people in the mountains or the forest or the desert plains. Wars were declared on certain areas of land by the people who didn't follow the rituals. You see, people of the seas and oceans did not agree with the ritualistic behaviour or the strange sacrifices of the people of the mountains. The people near the oceans and deltas used their ability to summon to build boats, and create dams. The people of the mountains used their ability to summon for sacrifices and rituals, for prayer.
"The people of the forest prayed to the four elements, they were neither influenced by the ways of sacrfice, or of anti-ritualistic beliefs, but they embraced the ability to summon and did not exploit it. The people of the desert plains were the simplest, they rode their horses and prayed to their ancestral spirits. They did not believe in war and considered the ability to summon a burden. Now do you see the standing differences from time immemorial?" Ziachem's voice finally rested. Tal was still looking at him, her face partially lost in thought.
She spoke. "I understand it better, drovai. The Scillian clan are the people of the seas and oceans. They abide their way of life on structured logic, development and advancement. They do not believe in ritualistic processes, or even god for that matter. They invented intelligent methods of transaction and transport."
"Precisely, Tal," Ziachem responded with a soft chuckle. He turned to me, "your thoughts, Aedon?"
I nodded. "The Kyrious clan are the people of the mountains. The very name of their clan is derived from an ancient word, meaning a lord or a master. They are religious and strongly disagree with the Scillian way of life. Without sacrfices, they feel their life is bland. In their philosophy, sacrfice is the very essence of their life."
"Indeed, you are correct," Ziachem responded to me, handing me a wooden bowl of berries. He continued, "and as you know, we are the Azroki clan. The people of the forest. This is why we embrace the ability to summon at every level. We pray to fire, to Agni. We pray to Mother Earth and flower her with our ability to grow fruitful harvest. The sky blesses us with rain and the air gives us life."
Ziachem had a blissful smile while saying all of this to Tal and I. He adored the Azroki way of life.We remained silent. I could sense that Ziachem wanted to continue his tale. "The Mohoraï clan are the people of the desert plains. They are nomadic by nature, and simple through their means and ways. They do not feel the need to summon as they feel that their faith in ancestral spirits is enough to guide them through their journeys.
"Now you see why there is such an uproar in the Scillian clan's daughter being bonded to a Kyrious clan's son. They are the exact opposites, and people are unhappy because of the stark differences, especially the war that ensued."
"I understand the wars would have caused bitterness and anger, but those were hundreds of years ago. Today, these are superficial differences, it doesn't have to lead to another war or harm," Tal commented.
"People have egos, Tal. It has created hundreds of years of animosity. This is a time where wisdom ceases to be where education and intelligence are grown. The Scillians believe they are far superior to the Kyrious. The Yiem War was to banish enslavement of the Kyrious people from the Scillians, don't you remember?"
