I pushed open the door to my apartment, and threw my purse onto my leather couch. I, like most Vampires, was wealthy. Most of the money came from saving throughout the past couple hundred years, other came from life insurance that I've collected, from both faking my death time and time again, and from past husbands. I found that it got harder and harder to trick humans, they seemed to get smarter over time. I sighed, now that I was home I had nothing to do. I could have slept (yes Vampires do sleep) but I wasn't tired. I could have checked my Facebook, but I didn't have one. What's the point? Its unwise to make friends with humans. As for Vampires, well most Vampires played by the rules, something I never did.

There was a loud bang from the main floor. I quickly sat up. I could hear movement, movement which was to swift and graceful to be human. Vampires. I was the only Vampire in the building, so i knew that they must have been there for me. I jumped out of my bed. My front door was locked, and even though I knew that a locked door is no obstacle for a Vampire, I locked my bedroom door too. The movement stopped on my floor, but only for a brief second, because then there was bang at my door. What ever these Vampires wanted, they meant business. I pulled open my window, I was on the fourth floor, but I knew i'd be okay if I jumped. So I did. I plummeted down at amazing speed, and landed just as I heard my bedroom door being knocked down. I gasped in surprise as a strong arm quickly wrapped around my neck. Shit. "Cuff her!" I heard a voice maybe 100 feet away scream. The strong arms quickly grabbed my wrists and cuffed me with industrial hand cuffs made of gold, silver, titanium, and lead, which for some reason gives Vampires the strength of a human. I fell to the ground, feeling so unbearably weak. The hands let go of me, knowing that I wouldn't, and couldn't run. A few feet away I heard my name come up, though I was not ever directly addressed.

"Summer Vera," I looked up as I heard a voice directly above me. The man who stood in front of me was tall, his skin was not pale, but it is not nearly the same as mine. His hair was long and sandy, and unusual style for a cop (or pests as I like to call them) in the Vampire world. He was not an old looking Vampire. In fact, in human years he would look no older that 17 or 18. There is no denying it, he was very good looking. His strange eyes gave him an exotic look. His eyes were of two colors, the right eye is a deep blue, the left is dark green. When our eyes met, he has a confused look on his face, the kind of face you would make if you'd seen someone you'd swear you'd seen before. He finally cleared his throat and to talk,

"You are being detained by the VPA, for numerous counts of murder which could have led to the exposer of Vampires." OH MY GOSH, I said to myself for two reasons. One: I was shocked that it had really taken them that long to figure out what i'd done. Two: I'd been caught. I couldn't believe I'd been caught. I knew that most likely I would be sent to the Vampire courts, but not even the best Vampire Lawyer could get me out of this one. I knew I was going to be found guilty, and I'd have to face the consequences. Thinking of these consequences put a knot in my stomache.
