Weeks had come and gone, and it was nearly time for the 3-week holidays and everyone was excited. I hadn't spoken to Mason since he came to my house with his family, I don't really care though. It's not like I like him, tutoring Kaleb has been going really well, I think he'll pass the next History test.
"Hey," Ember gives me a puzzled look, " are we going to that party Kaleb invited you to tonight?" Kaleb invited me to a party he's hosting to thank me for tutoring him, and he said Ember and Jay could come if they want as well.
"I'll go if you two go," Jay gives us a crooked smile.
"I'll go if Jasmine goes," Ember looks at me, "so, are we going?"
Ember and Jay make puppy eyes and look into my eyes, "fine, we can go." Ember declares she is coming to my house after school to do my hair and help me choose my outfit, when I'm pretty sure I can do that on my own.

Ember has literally chucked all my dresses on my floor trying to decide which one I should wear.
"Oh, how about this black one, it's short, cute and simple."
"Sure," I say probably going to regret going to this party, "I'll wear that." I change into my dress and Ember curls my hair whilst I do my makeup. "done," Ember sounded very pleased with herself.
Ember has her license, so she drives us to Kaleb's house and when we arrive we see this big white house with loud music and drunk kids dancing outside to the music. "This looks awesome," Ember shouts over the music. We go to the kitchen to get drinks and instead of alcohol we found Jay doing shots and a group of drunk kids surrounding him cheering.
"Jay," I shout barley able to hear myself.
"I've been looking for you two," Jay is obviously drunk. Jay looks away from us and does another shot and all the drunken idiots start cheering. "Fancy seeing you here," I turn around and funny enough Mason is standing there. I notice he looks me up and down, "something wrong," I ask, I sounded a little defensive.
Mason smirks at me," No, not at all." I look into his baby blue eyes, god there so perfect. Wait, why would I think that, It's Mason Mendel for god's sake. I look up and see an over enthusiastic Kaleb speaking through a microphone, "Who's having fun?" Kaleb shouts so loud the entire world probably heard him.
Kaleb looks at the crowd with a daring smile, "Whoever is daring enough to play truth or dare has access to the living room where one hell of a show is going to go down." I notice as Kaleb's eyes meet mine, "that's if you're not a pussy and can accept a challenge," not once during that little challenge speech did Kaleb break eye contact with me, he just smirked at me as if to tell me I'm too pussy to accept a challenge.
Oh, he is so on, I'm going to kick his ass because I can do any challenge thrown at me. Well after I've had a drink. I move towards the living room and I notice that Mason and Jay follow, when we arrive in the living room I notice Ember was already there. The living room is massive compared to my own and has grey walls hardly noticeable in the dark, Kaleb turns on the light and sits down in one of the many bean bags scattered across the floor in the shape of a square.
Kaleb raises his voice so that all the many people in the room could hear him," we have the almighty choosing system."
I can't help but laugh at what Kaleb called it, I mean seriously, a choosing system. "Something funny Jasmine," Kaleb raises his eyebrow and smirks at me.
"No, not at all," I couldn't stop the giggles from escaping my mouth when I said this. I've probably already had too much to drink but Kaleb challenged me so I'm not going to back down now.
A few hours later and it's been pretty fun, every time someone does a dare they have to take one shot before they do it, and if they choose truth they have to take five shots. Kaleb is the only one who didn't do any shots because he was Jay's sober bob. I have been dared to jump in Kaleb's pool fully clothed, to do a beer pong challenge and to do a shot glass challenge. I had no idea what a shot glass challenge was, but it turned out I had to do one shot each second without stopping for 20 seconds.
It was a piece of cake, I could've done 30 seconds if I wanted to, but Ember thought I was being cocky, so I didn't do it. "The final guest of the night is," Kaleb presses the button on the 'choosing system' and it lands on me. "Jasmine! you have had one too many dares therefor, I have chosen for you five shot glasses and a truth," I'm fighting with my conscience whether I should do it or not, because, well, I've had one too many drinks already but that's not going to stop me from having more right. I'm here to have fun, I take one shot glass from Kaleb at a time and chug the alcoholic drink inside them.
"Alright Kelley, what have you got for me?" Kelly stares at me blankly for a few seconds, and then he just starts laughing hysterically. "Did you just call me Kelly, drunk Jasmine needs to get her facts right," Kelly stares at the roof for a while," have you ever lost someone important to you." My smile turns into a sad puppy face, why would Kelly ask me such a question. I know it's just a game but it's not funny hearing someone lose someone they care about, I look at the ground. I remember the day it happened almost like it was yesterday.
I feel the tears begin to swell up in my eyes, I don't know why but my reaction was to just get up and leave. "Jaz," I was too busy thinking about was Kaleb said to realise he was calling after me and probably got up to follow me. I notice Mason in the kitchen- with some girl from our English class- when I walk past it, I didn't really care I just wanted to leave this stupid house. I reach the stairs, but they just look like a blur and I start to stumble down them when I feel a strong pair of hands catch my arm.
I look up and see Kaleb, seriously. "Jaz I'm sorry," I look at him blankly for a while not knowing what to say, I never noticed how good Kaleb looked before. He had a deep brown shade in his hair which was flipped to the side, his face was chiseled, and his eyes were an emerald color. Any girl would get lost in those eyes, no wonder he is liked so much. Kaleb helps me descend the stairs and I look back at Mason who is flirting with a pretty, tall strawberry blonde girl. I roll my eyes at his attempts to flatter her, I felt a bit hurt though.
Kaleb leads me to his car, "I'm taking you home to get some sleep, you've had way too much to drink," I just nod and sit in the passenger's side of the seat too tired to care about what Kaleb said. Kaleb starts the engine and I look out the passenger's window and I see Mason looking straight at me, he looked sad. Which is weird because Mason doesn't usually show emotion. I shrug it off and close my eyes as the darkness consumes me.
