MAD LOVE NO. ONE !

Dr Jonathan Crane is an interesting love interest choice, to say the least. He's a sociopathic psychiatrist who's only motivated by science. In all honestly, Jon could fall under the asexual label since he's never shown sexual attraction towards anyone. Jon also hasn't shown any examples of romantic attraction, the only two case I could think of is Becky Albright and Sherry Squires but even then it wasn't really romantic in my humble opinion.

This love for Jon and the fangirls that want to date him have one root cause... Cillian Murphy. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH! He's an incredible actor and gave so much horror and life to Scarecrow, he was criminally underused! Cillian is also gorgeous and so pretty and handsome and charming, I could on and on. He's a great actor but I believe he's apart of the craze to ship your oc with Jonathan Crane.

While his level of conventional attractiveness varies for example, New 52 Crane is a lot uglier than Batman: Year One Crane

While his level of conventional attractiveness varies for example, New 52 Crane is a lot uglier than Batman: Year One Crane. Although there are key features in his appearance; he's usually a neebish and lanky brunette man with glasses. His character isn't suppose to be attractive, I mean come on his last name comes from Ichabod Crane of all people! Also the fact he's a sociopath who's more interested in scientific experimentation and scaring people than the wellbeing of other human beings. It's hard to imagine anyone falling for this guy, I personally advise not using Jon as your love interest in your fanfiction. His character just doesn't work for romance, there's a high risk of writing him out of character just for the sake of romance.

BUT! — If you really, really, want Jon as your love interest, well my dude, here's my advice.

— SET IT BEFORE CRANE BECAME SCARECROW !

You could set it in his primary school, middle school, high school or university years and it would work a lot better than setting your story during his years as the Scarecrow or even when he's a professor. These settings gives you more leeway to set up romance with Jonny Boy.

Recommended readings to help you get a better idea of his past are;

Batman: Scarecrow Year One (1995) — About his teen years

Batman: Year One – Scarecrow (2005) — About his ( Pre New 52 ) childhood

Batman: The Dark Knight – Cycle of Violence (2013) — About his ( New 52 ) childhood.

DON'T DO TEACHER X STUDENT !

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT DO A STORY BASED ON THIS WITH CRANE! It's way, way too weird and highly out of character for Jon. While you could defiantly have him be fatherly or close with a student like his relationship with Molly from the Batman Adventures comics, although she's the only example of this kind of friendly and fatherly relationship Crane has had with a student. He would not risk losing a job he's shown to generally enjoy just for some ~special~ girl. Stay away from this kind of plot with Crane. It's highly out of character.

— BUILD UP THE ROMANCE GRADUALLY !

This could apply to any character but with Crane, it's essential. Jon isn't one to jump start into a relationship, he's the type of character that requires time to develop relationships. Your character would need to be patience with him and the romance would need to develop at a slow pace since, as I've stated earlier, Jon isn't a romantic or sexual guy.

CREATE A CHARACTER NOT A LOVE INTEREST !

Your character should be able to stand on their own and not require Jon to give them development as well as interesting qualities. The character you create for your story needs to be well developed, flawed and a character the readers can invest in. Your character can be an arsehole or the nicest person in the world but they shouldn't be treated as self interests or just satellite love interest to Dr Crane.

CONCLUSION; Scarecrow isn't the greatest choice for a love interest. He's difficult to keep in character when he's written as a love interest, but there are ways to write him as a love interest and keep him in character. This is not intended to bash anyone, these are just my thoughts and advice. If there is anyother character you would like me to do, request down below!
