Chapter Two

As I was walking out of Cabin 3, I ran into somebody. I slipped in the mud and my journal went flying out of my hands. "Hey! Watch it!" I look up and see Levi Holmes, son of Aphrodite, standing over me.

"I'm sorry. Here." He sticks his hand out to me. I push it away.

"I can take care of myself, thank you very much," I snap, hauling myself up. I pick up my journal. Surprisingly, it landed on a picnic table. It was just wet, not muddy. Unlike me, who was both. I mean, how strong of a storm did it have to be to get past the barrier?

I head off to the Athena cabin, soaking wet and angry. Once I get there, I toss my journal onto my bed in Cabin 6 and pull out my clothes from underneath it. I grab a Camp Half Blood t-shirt and an extra pair of jeans, then walk to the shower room.

Inside, I see Alissa, daughter of Ares. She is the head camper, the one who leads all of her siblings into trouble. The one who gives every new kid a flushie. I take a step back, out of the shower room. I turn my head. Elizabeth is coming. She got here last week and is still in the Hermes cabin.

I run up to her. "Liz, you can't go in the shower room right now..."

"Why? I need to take a shower."

"Liz, Alissa is in there. If you go in there, something bad is going to happen."

"Julie, I don't need you to look after me."

I clench my jaw, my face steadily growing red. "Elizabeth. Don't. Go. In. There."

She brushes past me roughly. I shrug. "Well, whatever happens isn't going to be my fault," I mutter. "I'll just go to the beach."

As I turn to grab my bathing suit, I hear an explosion behind me. I whirl around. A fountain of water is holding up the roof to the girl's shower house. "What did I tell y-" I stop. No Poseidon kid was in there, right?

Levi Holmes. That idiot. Does he really think I would even dare to fall for him? An Aphrodite kid, for goodness sakes! He should know better. I'm way out of his league.
