Long before the feral clans and packs of domesticated animals roamed the wild, the wolves laid claim to the land. These regal canines came to a conclusion that to best survive the cold winters and harsh famines was to come together in a union greater than any wolf. The wolves separated themselves into ranks that each served a purpose inside of the pack and all was overseen by the alpha. However, not all packs were the same; not all wolves accepted their place inside the pack.
A pack which roamed the far tundra of the northern lands was overseen by a tyrant wolf whom was called Thorn before gaining the title of alpha. Thorn forced her pack to kill off all opposing wolves in which her pack called the Era of the Black Wolf. Legends from the elders of now say that Thorn's pelt was once as white as the snow that fell from the sky until she became alpha, when her fur became black as the night sky and teeth as sharp as rocks.
It is said that Thorn lead her pack across the Range of Aput, a chain of mountains which spans for hundreds of miles. During this endless stretch, the wolves of her pack suffered dearly. The pack once filled with mighty wolves was now a husk of its former self; the deltas had become mere flesh draped over bones. Throughout the Era of the Black Wolf, countless deltas fell in the Range of Aput and many were loosing hope.
