29th August 1939
Dear Diary,Since yesterday, mother hasn't noticed that the box has gone missing from the cupboard. A wave of relief drifted over me as mother walked in with a smile on her face.
She asked how I felt, I said I'd felt better than yesterday, but still a little rough - she advised me to stay off school, I was glad she said that, it gave me a better chance of getting inside the box.
I snuck into mothers room when she left, I found the key and ran straight back into my room. I was lucky I had found the key so quickly, and that I'm afraid this diary entry isn't going to be long, I really do need to get some rest.
I'll write more tomorrow, I promise.
Bye Diary,
Elizabeth
