Chapter 2

=========

The day went on like any other. Despite the bruises left on the girl's arms, this wasn't anything put of the ordinary. Catherine sighed sitting down at the table she always sat at. She looked down at the journal she was writing in before, she really wanted to be a writer, she loved to write stories and songs but nobody else wanted to listen. She dreamt of going to college but she knew her mother would never let her, she wanted Catherine to be a lawyer instead. She sighed and stuffed the book in her pocket, as Laura came over sitting across Catherine. "Hey," She began looking at her, "Selena isn't going to be at lunch today." Catherine tilted her head in confusion. "Before you ask, she is in the principals office.  She beat up that girl who embarrassed you yesterday." Catherine blinked and thought back to yesterday. "She really did that?" Laura nodded, "Apparently the girl was trash talking about you so she hurt her for hurting you." Catherine smiled to herself, "I'll have to thank her later." Laura and Catherine perked up when a voice chimed by the table, "Hey girls!" It was their other cousin Tiffany. They waved at her as she swiftly took her seat by Laura. "How are you two?" They shrugged, "Fine, you?" She smiled at them, "Wonderful! Anyway Selena should be coming in a bit." As soon as she said that a seat was taken at their table, "Wassup, ya miss me?" Catherine gave Selena a hug and smiled, "Woah I'm not used to Miss Sassy-pants giving me a hug!" Catherine pinched her and shook her head, "Well appreciate the rarity." Catherine proclaimed. Tiffany looked at Catherine and sighed, "You know, I'm starting to think you have a soft side." Catherine laughed and shook her head, "I'm nice when I want to be."
The day soon ended and the three girls returned home to their loving parents. As soon as Selena and Catherine entered the door their mother stepped in front of them, they stood their ground, "You two, since you haven't received your full punishment you will do all of Laura's chores," Laura looked at her two sisters worried, quickly scooting to her room. "Catherine, you get to do extra vacuuming and dusting, even the base and attic. And you also get you cook for the family for half of the week instead." Catherine nodded slowly gulping. "And Selena. You get to clean the floors on your hands and knees, and also get to clean up everyones laundry and messes." Selena nodded and silently cursed. "Good. Now you both need to get cleaned up and prepared for dinner. Enjoy the few free minutes you have."  The girls nodded and rushed to their rooms leaving their mother to continue her cooking and rambling to her husband. Catherine cleaned up and pulled out her journal, she wrote a few words in it, before being called to the table. The three girls sat in their spots as their mother joined them. Their father was distant and never ate with them, which they took it as a good thing. The food was placed in front of them and so was the start of a brand new hellish conversation.  "So Catherine I wanted to talk about your application that was sent for that college for the writing arts." Catherine gulped, she hid that in one of her computer files, her mother must have dug through everything to find it. "W-what about it?" She spoke softly, "I don't petsonally approve of your pointless dream..and believe you should apply for something else," Catherine kept quiet, "Like maybe you should apply for anything else except that crap. Like maybe start trying to live the family dream and become a lawyer." Selena glared at her mother as Catherine slowly lost her appetite. "It would pay much better, and you would warn LOTS more money." Catherine looked at her food and sighed, "Oh and before you say anything, I deleted that pointless application." Catherine slammed her fists on the table and stood up, "HOW FUCKING DARE YOU!!" Her mother looked up and glared at her, "Excuse me?" Catherine glared and leaned more in, Selena held her hand on the knife if their mother tried to do anything. "I want to become a writer, I have spent all of my free time writing and working to achieve that, I've gotten highest in all of my classes and I've saved up everything. I spent hours on that application, and you just delete it?! You are a heartless bitch. I hope you go fuck yourself." Before her mother could act Catherine ran out of the house in tears, Selena stood up and looked at the door glaring at their mother. "That little bitch, Selena, go get your sister." Selena went to the door turning to her mother, "You're the bitch." She went out of the house looking for her sister. Not too far away she found her in the corner of an alley. She held Catherine close and stroked her hair. She sobbed in Selenas arms feeling safe in her protective grip. "Why would she do that to me..." Selena sighed, "Because she's the devil." Catherine laughed weakly, "True.." They stayed like that for a couple of minutes before Selena finally spoke. "I think we should stay at Nicholas's for awhile. You caused quite a storm and I'm afraid of what mom will do when she gets her hands on you." Catherine nods. "Lucky for us, I saw him in the cafe." Selena got up holding Catherine in her arms.
Nicholas was busy reading his magazine's, which he swore were not gay, and scouting out the model behind the photos. Selena made her way in and put Catherine down next to the man in denial. He looked over and gave her a confused look. "We need a place to stay for a few days. Or months. We can find ways to pay rent, or even help around the house a-" Nicholas put a hand up and smiled, "Say no more. You can stay with me, I assume some shit just went down. But you do have to get jobs because I mean let's be honest, I can't even hold one. But i'm happy to help you." They nodded as he drove them to his house, letting them decompress on his couch. "God...this week has been hectic." Selena nodded, just wait for what else it has in store. Catherine buried her head in her hands reviving a pat from Nicholas. "I just wish it was summer. Cause when it's summer I get
