Artemis entered the room in the middle of a conversation. The task force were voicing their views on her to L anxiously. She walked back a bit so she would go unnoticed, and still hear their views on her. Thankfully, they were to busy talking to see her hiding in the corner.
"We don't know anything about her! How can we trust her?" The one known as Ide said.
"I have to agree with Ide," Chief Yagami announced, "You didn't even tell us she was coming.."
L sat looking at the concerned faces of the task force members, he shifted in his chair. Although the other members didn't know Artemis was in their presence, L did. And he was just waiting for her to interrupt.
Just as L thought she would do, Artemis spoke up. She walked confidently over to the anxious members of the task force, "In that case, would you like my biography?" She said sarcastically. She didn't particularily want to tell anyone about her past.
The task force just stared at her questioningly. She decided she should give them a brief summary of her, to ease their tension. "I'm Artemis, I am proficent at drawing and carving. I'm same age as L, born on 18th February. Don't try researching me, there are no records. I can assure you I'm not Kira, nor am I working for him. If I was, dear L here would not have hired me. No further questions thank you." She said slumping down in the office chair beside L. She had just offered up random, and useless facts about herself.
"Ryuuzaki, why does she get to call you L and we don't?" Matsuda asked curiously, looking over at Artemis, who sat bored in her chair.
"It's her choice, but the main reason is her grudge against me." L replied, monotone as usual.
"For him to mention the tension between us, that's unusual. I would have just expected him to wave Matsuda's question off.... I wonder what's up. Maybe I should cover it ..." Artemis thought as she looked over at L.
"Actually, it's nothing. I just 'forget' to call him Ryuuzaki. A simple slip of the mind." Artemis lied, which caused L to look at her questioningly. Thankfully, Matsuda bought it and none of the other members were even paying attention.
The day went on as usual, everyone working away. Trying to get somewhere with this case. But today was exceptionally good. The task force had been able to pin point one company that they suspected Kira is. Yotsuba.
There had been significant stock rises due to recent 'Kira killings' that has benefitted the Yotsuba company and in return, disadvantaged the rival companies. Everyone was rather releaved with this lead, they were finally getting somewhere.
"Hey L, hey hey L," Artemis said, looking up from her wooden carving. Apart from L and Light, everyone else was away, either sleeping or continuing on with their own recreational activites.
L looked over to Artemis, with cake in hand. "You know since you're 'the world's best detective and all that. Well you're doing a pretty rubbish job on this case. I mean like if it were Sherlock Holmes, he'd have probably solved it already." Artemis announced.
"Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character, therefore there is no relevant comparison of him to me."
"Actually there is, you and him are both reknowned detectives. So there's your comparison. But I still think he is better than you." Artemis said smugly. Usually she wasn't one to pick an argument but today she was feeling particularily resentful.
"Considering the unusual circumstances of this case I would deduce that Sherlock would be equal, maybe even less, to my progress." L replied monotonely. Artemis could see that they were attracting the attention of Light but she didn't care.
