Artemis' Genesis (Death Note FanFic) {ON HIATUS}

Chapter 5

~Flashback~

Beyond's bright crimson eyes shined in the sunlight beaming between the half-drawn curtains, he sat on the floor beside a jar of jam that had spilled it's contents onto the carpet beneath his feet.

"Bee~! Mr Watari or Roger will be very angry with you!" Artemis called out as she spotted the jam of the carpet from the other end of the corridor. She ran happily, towards the jam covered boy with crimson eyes. 

Beyond looked up from where he sat and then back down at the jam, he laughed and smeared it on the walls. "I think it looks better this way." He stated simply. Artemis stepped back and faced the now jam covered wall, her back against the window.

"It's just incoherent scribbles," She swipped jam on her finger and began drawing a picture with it on the wall, "See, now it is a picture!" She said putting her hands on her hips.

"And now it's a maths equation," Beyond said using more of the jam to cover the ornate wallpapered wall, "And now a calculation of blood splatter patterns!"

"Hey that's quite useful for that design you wanted me to draw! Now I can calculate the actual blood splatter from the body!" Artemis said looking over at Beyond and grinning. He smeared jam on her face and she stuck out her tongue to him. Soon the jam was no longer in the jar, but spread over the carpet, wall and their faces.

"Arty! You were supposed to meet me earlier, I even had cake that I might've shared." A young L said walking along towards Beyond and Artemis.

"Arty farty.." Beyond muttered under his breath, grinning slightly.

"I forgot about that because I was drawing a picture for Bee!" Artemis took out a small drawing from her back pocket and held it up, "Plus Mr Watari said that you had some extra classes to finish and I couldn't be bothered waiting around for you!" She smiled innocently.

L frowned slightly, "You both were supposed to be in extra classes too, I had to sit with the other 'successors', as Watari calls them, and they all just stared at me."

"Extra classes are boring!" Beyond exclaimed grinning, he grabbed Artemis' hand and pulled her along the corridor towards where their rooms were situated. 

"I'll come see you later Lawli!" Artemis called back, and then ran along with Beyond.

~End of flashback~

"Artemis?" L said looking at her blank expression, she blinked a few times and looked over to L. She could have sworn that she had seen a tint of red in those black eyes, but she thought it must have just been because of her memories.

"Huh?" She responded, rubbing her eyes. 

"You've been staring at that wall for the past five minutes." L announced before turning back to the many screens before him, he bit his thumb ever so slightly as he took in all the information before him.

Artemis shook her head and stood up, "I -uh think it's time for me to head back to my room now." She announced as she walked to the elevator, surprisingly Light followed close behind her, saying something about 'needing to just fetch some information from his room'. 

She eyed him suspiciously from the corner of her eye and walked slightly faster up the glass staircase, striding into the elevator. Just when she thought she had lost him, he just slipped past the closing metal doors.

"Might as well try and get some information out of him while I can." She thought as she looked over at the young man before her. 

"So, I hear that you're Kira." She exclaimed, as she stared him down. He turned to meet her stare and raised his eyebrow confused. The elevator seemed to move up the floors slower than ever.
