"Stupid Pikachu... Stupid league... Stupid rules.." I mutter, trudging down the street. I stomp in yet another puddle, spraying water up my jeans. Why did I have to get the dimmest Pokémon in the history of the world? This guy's less obedient than Ash's Charizard for crying out loud.
"Human? Let me out will ya?" I hear Pikachu from inside the Pokéball. There's no way I'm letting him out after all the trouble he's just caused me. I put the Pokéball back inside my pocket. "I said let me out dammit!" I hear him shout. I sigh, roll my eyes and release him from the Pokéball. He smirks as his feet touch the ground. "That's better."
"I don't know why you're smirking." I snap. "You just lost the gym battle for all three of us. I hope you're proud of yourself."
He stretches and yawns. "Trust me kiddo, I am." I clip him round the ear. "What the hell was that for?"
"For being a cocky little shit, that's what it was for." I scream. "You can't just waltz into my life and fuck it all up!"
"Technically you waltzed into my life when you dropped me down the stairs." He mumbles. I go to pull his ear but another hand beats me to it. The hand is gloved and slightly bigger than mine. It tugs Pikachu's ear sharply and they he disappears from view.
"Pikachu!" I call out but there's no reply. I rush down the ally hoping to find the mysterious person who took him. As much as he annoys me, he's still my Pokémon. Loosing him is a one way ticket out of this life. "Pikachu where are you?" I shout again, still nothing.
I bash head first into a girl slightly taller than me. "Watch it kid!" She shouts. Her eyes are hazel and her hair is long, straight and brown. She's wearing a navy turtleneck, navy leggings, black combat boots, pilot goggles and moon earrings.
"Yeah, watch it kid!" A slightly shorter girl backs her up. She also has hazel eyes. Her blonde hair is in two ponytails. She's wearing the exact same thing as the other girl. Are they part of some kind of team? Her right arm rests on the taller girl's shoulder and her left arm is around Pikachu.
I lunge at the blonde girl. "Give me back my Pikachu!"
The taller girl grabs my wrists and holds me back. "Woah woah woah." She says. "Don't you have any manners? Don't attack someone until you're on first name basis." She shoves me to the ground so I'm looking up at the pair. "I'm Kelsi and this is my sister Melissa." The blonde girl flicks one of her bunches. "And we're part of Team Eclipse, the revolution of the Pokémon community."
I give Pikachu the look and he nods. "Sounds interesting... Care to tell me more about Team Eclipse?" I ask. Pikachu wriggles trying to free himself from Melissa's grip.
"Oh yes. With pleasure." Kelsi gabs. "Team Eclipse has one dream." Pikachu gets free and tiptoes in my direction. "A dream that one day the Pokémon community, trainers and Pokémon alike, will no longer have to hide themselves."
I start to get up. "That's a very nice dream you two." Once I'm on my feet I grab Pikachu's wrist and bolt for the street.
"Get back here with our Pikachu!" Melissa shouts behind me.
We keep running until we reach the corner shop at the end of my road. A group of kids from the year above me saunter out drinking Pepsi. "Crap." I mutter, bringing Pikachu back inside his Pokéball and jumping behind a parked car. No one can know about this Pokémon malarkey except Brooke and Nora. The group pass by and I release Pikachu. He gives me the death stare. I shrug. "You've gotta do what you've gotta do."
