The classroom door slides open with ease and I'm greeted with that familiar, psychotic smile. "Hey Connor. Long time no see." It's only Kelsi Davies, history's most possessive girlfriend. Well, ex girlfriend. Why did I have to run into her? She jumps onto a nearby desk. "It must be fate that we ran into each other, huh?"

My hands close into fists. "Stop with the games Kelsi, only one of us is going to walk out of this battle alive." I grip the Pokéball in my pocket. "And it's going to be me. Go Machamp." I release my Pokémon. He stands in front of me, tall and proud. I sure as hell hope he's strong enough to take down whatever she throws at us.

"Haven't you learnt anything Connor?" Producing a net ball from her pocket, she smirks. "Never bring a knife to a gun fight. Go Misdreavus." Crap. I forgot that Kelsi's a ghost type trainer. Fighting type moves will have no effect on her Pokémon. I'm screwed. "Use psybeam."

The purple beam shoots across the room, catching Machamp in as it goes. He tumbles backwards, roaring in pain. I clench my fists. "You bitch." I mutter through gritted teeth. "Machamp, use cross chop." He lands the hit but Misdreavus doesn't even flinch.

Kelsi stifles a laugh. "Do you suffer from short term memory loss? Fighting type moves have no effect on my Pokémon." She points at Machamp menacingly. "Misdreavus, use shadow ball." The blow knocks Machamp clean out. I stare blankly. I'm used to loosing to Kelsi but I thought I'd got stronger in the two years we've been apart. She giggles. "Sorry sweet pea, looks like you're the one dying tonight."

She grabs my wrists and flips me over her head. I smash through the window and basically shit myself. We're on the third floor, if I fell from here I'd surely die. "Kelsi what the fuck are you doing?" I'm freaking out. I'm only 15. I've barely lived.

"Anyone who stands in the way of Team Eclipse must be eliminated." Her facial expression is suddenly serious. I've never seen her like this before, it sends chills down my spine. "Goodnight Connor."

I feel her fingers leave my wrists and I plummet to the ground, screaming in terror. This isn't right. It's not supposed to end like this. And that's when I hit the ground. Except the ground is moving, and I'm not dead. Am I dreaming? "You ok bro?" I'm not dreaming; I could recognise that voice anywhere.

"Liam?" I sit up in shock. How did he know we were here? We're sat on the back of Charizard, his only Pokémon. Liam isn't a battle trainer, he does like to fly around on Charizard though. I shake my head. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Nice to see you to." He rolls his eyes. "Honestly, I just saved your life and this is the thanks I get."

I nod. "Thanks little bro." He doesn't know how much I appreciate him. It's always him who saves my ass. I guess having a brother who isn't a battle trainer can be handy. At first, I mocked him for running away from the battle life. I called him a coward. Boy was I wrong.

"Hey, it's no problem. A little thanks every once in a while goes a long way." He brings Charizard down and we touch the ground. He slides off his back. "Come on, we're going home. Mum's worried sick about you."

"What?" I almost fall off Charizard in shock. "Are you out of your mind Liam? My friends are up against Team Eclipse and you expect me to bail on them?" Slowly, he nods. "I can't believe you right now." I slide off Charizard's back and storm back into the building. Machamp's still in there. Who knows what Kelsi's done to him, he could be dead. I need to get in there quick.

I rush into the classroom. There's no sign of Kelsi and Misdreavus. Machamp is lying in the middle of the floor. Anxiously, I pace over to him. He's not breathing. "No... No..." He's dead. That son of a bitch killed Machamp. I can feel the salty tears rolling down my cheeks. My strongest Pokémon. My best friend. I wipe away the tears on the back of my hand. You're going down Kelsi. Mark my words.
