Spare clothes, check. Spare shoes, check. Haribo sharing tub, check. Phone charger, check. Sprite, check. Healing potions for Pikachu, check. Togepi hoodie, check. I think I've got everything I need for a successful weekend in London. My phone buzzes on my desk, it's Nora.
I roll my eyes and type my response. Just our luck that it's absolutely freezing the weekend we go away. Typical.
I sling on my, fluffy but waterproof, purple coat. My aunt got it for me when we went to visit her and my uncle. I haven't worn it yet and it's been like half a year. I swear it never rains in the north. I grab my suitcase, galaxy pattern, and dash down the stairs. My suitcase thumps down the stairs behind me. Clatter. Clatter. Clatter. Mr Pine's car is parked on the drive, Nora waves to me from the back seat. I grab the keys off the radiator cover and shout bye to mum and dad. I unlock the door and trot out onto the drive. Mr Pine takes my suitcase from me and dumps it in the boot. Next to mine is a black suitcase with a pink heart pattern, which I can only assume is Nora's.
I open the car door and slide into the seat next to Nora. "Hey bestie." She pulls me into a hug.
"Hey Nora." I return the hug. "I'm so excited to get to the battle stadium. Is it true that they have full on tournaments?"
"You bet it's true." She exclaims, even overexcited for her standards. "I looked into it and everything. There's four different tournaments; no badges, one to four badges, five to eight badges and over eight badges." She pauses for a second but continues to speak after I don't reply. "We're in the no badges tournament. It tends to be the most popular one."
"Do you know anyone else who's going to the stadium?" I ask. Nora's never mentioned having any other friends who know about the Pokémon world. I wonder if she knows anyone else.
Nora shrugs. "No. Well, I have a few friends in the Pokémon world but none of them are going to the tournament."
