"No!"

The scream echoed way before he entered the castle. Her cry for help and the fear he detected in her tone urged him to run faster until he finally reached the throne room. But the vision he was greeted with would have never prepared him for the clash of feelings inside. The pain and anguish he felt at that moment were unlike anything he has ever experienced before. However, his breaking point was the dead body of his mother, splayed across the floor.

There was blood. So much blood. His mother was covered in red, and so was the woman who killed her. Her blue eyes were glinting, and her blonde hair was a mess. He saw the knife clutched in her hand, the same one she murdered his mother with. She sported a cynical smile on her ruby lips, and when she saw him by the doorway, she threw a fake pout his way.

It tipped him off. So with a loud cry, he charged towards the culprit, bringing both of their bodies tumbling down. He did not notice his sobbing sister standing in the corner, nor did he hear the set of feet rushing towards them. He was so immersed in his grief that he missed the weapon clutched in the woman's hand, only inches away from his back. He only realised his mistake too late, when a blinding pain took hold of him, and everything went black.
