"So it's true?" Orla, Theodore's sister, asked him excitedly as soon as she entered his office. "You've found your mate? Your true mate this time?"

Theodore raised his eyes from the document he was inspecting to glare icily at his sister.

"How did you know?" He asked her. Her face shifted into a grimace, and she started slowly backing towards the door. The glower he sent her made her heart race faster. She knew he wouldn't hurt her; never has and never will. However, being in the same room when he was angry, well let's say it was a different story.

His fury could shake her to the core, and the power that radiates from him makes her wolf squeak with the desperation to escape. So, dodging his question and escaping the room was the best solution she could come up with.

"Ah," She stuttered, "You know what, never mind. I'll just go."

She turned to leave, when his deep voice stopped her. "Orla," Theodore said warningly. "Who told you about it?"

Orla gulped shakily and turned to face him, but to her utter delight and happiness, a knock sounded from the door before it opened and Tomas entered.

Theodore was still burning holes into his sister's face, while Orla was smiling joyfully as she gazed at Tomas with wide eyes. She breathed a sigh of relief.

She escaped her brother's wrath; for now.

Tomas looked weirdly between the two before he summed it up as another ordinary dispute between the siblings. It was mostly due to Orla getting up to some mischief as Theodore tried reign in her wild side.

"Well, I'll be leaving now." The princess said smiling wide. She skipped towards the door, but just as she was leaving, Theodore called out, "This isn't over, Лисичка." (lisichka)

Orla grinned before making her escape. She survived!

"What is it, Tomas?" Theodore asked, turning his attention to the hesitant beta. Tomas' uneasy expression caused the alpha to leap up from his seat and rush to stand in front of him. It was not easy to rattle the beta, so seeing him in this state, set Theodore's senses on high alert. "Spit it out!"

"They found two bodies in the cells. Both are prisoners." Tomas blurted before he hesitated once again. "They also found a message written on the walls. It was the same message as last time."

Theodore froze in his place. No, it couldn't be; not again.

The last time this happened, he almost lost everything. He couldn't risk it. He needed to assess the situation himself and set the right course of action. He had to beware of the mistakes he made last time, and not fall in the same trap twice.

Despite his racing heart, he tried to collect himself quickly.

"Let's go. I need to see it myself." Theodore instructed. His large steps swallowed up the space fast as he charged through the hallways and outside the castle, towards the dungeons. He shifted halfway, allowing his beast control to prowl through the dense forest.

His mind shifted to the day it started.

It was seven years ago, when he was walking the same path alongside his father. They were having breakfast when the past beta barged into the dining room and whispered something into his father's ears.

He remembered the sharp look the past alpha sent the beta's way before his father stood abruptly and called Theodore to escort him.

Theodore followed him without question. The way his father was acting prompted his senses to into overdrive, but what he didn't notice, was the dulling of his abilities as the minutes passed.

Shaking himself of the memory, Theodore came to halt before the dungeons. One of the guards handed him and his beta some clothes, which they wore when they shifted back into their human form. Theodore then proceeded to briskly walk into the building, Tomas hot on his heels.

His heart was beating erratically. He had no doubt that the guards could hear it if they focused hard enough, but he didn't want to show them any weakness. He tried to control himself a little more, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath in the process.

The coppery scent of blood invaded his nostrils, bringing his beast forward. He couldn't control the growl that slipped from his throat. He opened his eyes to scan his surrounding to find the anxious-looking guards surrounding him. He was sure that they all understood what this meant.

"Listen up, everyone!" Theodore called out. All eyes turned to him, prompting the alpha to continue. "We will get to the bottom of this. It won't be like last time. I'll make sure of it, I promise."

He didn't know if he was saying those words to calm himself or the others around him, but what he was aware of, was that they needed to be said. Seeing the slightly relaxed and determined expressions that took over the men's faces put him at a slight ease. He vowed to protect them, and he will. He won't let it escalate like it did in the past.

Silver bars came into view, and the smell of blood hung heavily in the air. Their echoing footsteps were the only sounds in the area. The other prisoners were evacuated as soon the news broke, placed in another dungeon at a different building.

Pushing forward with heavy, determined steps, Theodore came to halt in front of the open doorway.

Two bodies laid there, mangled and bloodied. Their open eyes stared into empty space while their blood pooled around them. Upon closer inspection, Theodore noticed the slit throats and wrists of both prisoners.

He remembered that scene well. It was the first of many bodies he found back then. It was also his first time to see his father so shaken that he barely could stand.

It wasn't a beautiful sight back then, and it isn't any better now.

His eyes drifted across the room, only to rest on the bloody message written on the wall. His beast surged forward once again, letting out the loudest roar he could. It felt threatened, and it wanted revenge. It thirsted for it. And how could it not after what happened back then, and the events that took place?

'We're coming for you.' The message said.

But they won't be the only ones coming this time. He was the one that will meet them halfway, and only then, will the true war begin.
