Beauty In Pain

Remington scooped up his lover and allowed their legs to drape over his right arm. He moved slowly to the bed, careful not to wake his sleeping beauty. Sat upon the bed, Remington placed their resting head in his lap.

The ease at which he did this, with the consideration he had inside of his being, it was obvious that this was the person he needed in his life. With the look on his face anyone could tell that Remington believed this photographer was the best person for him.

His hand ran through their hair in long, slow strokes. If his hand hit a snag he would gently move his hand in small, forceful strokes until the knot fell apart.

Beautiful pain was painted on his face as he gazed down on their relaxed face. His dark brows were furrowed, his pale lips tugged downward, and the disappointment in his eyes were all surefire signs of the pain he felt.

My eyes darted around the van for a moment. Everything seemed to be the way it was before. Nothing was out of place, then again there wasn't much to be out of place. The only thing that differed was the lack of a second bed. In its place was a black sofa broken up into blocks. It wasn't until I glanced to the ceiling that I found a huge change.

"Rem," I called out, "look up."

He tipped his head up and rested it against the wall.

The pain in his face evaporated immediately once he focused on the large mural of him. The darkness in his eyes was gone, a smile tugged at his lips now, and an overall softness was restored. His body relaxed into the wall as he admired the art.

While it was not a sight of Remington that I wanted to see, I can see the quality of work within it. It was so realistic I felt that he could fall down onto the bed at any given time. The love within the image was outstanding.

"I'll drive us back home," I said and walked towards the driver's seat.

"I'll follow you," Emerson stated as he walked out of the van and shut the door.

This has been one hell of a week.
