You were there the next day like I predicted you'd be. There was a small smile on my face as I waited to order but when I saw you, you looked frantic and frankly, like a mess. You had wild eyes and untamed hair as your hands shook passing me my coffee. There were no smiles from you today.
I observed you as I ate, looking up from my laptop every so often until one of your coworkers laid a hand on your arm and murmured something to you, to which you slowly nodded your head.
You then disappeared to the back, where you didn't come out for for the next hour.
I took my leave, heart aching because of how you were.
