Chapter 4 - Dinner

Reader's Pov:

We finally arrived at Eren's house, and I could barely get a foot in when Carla engulfed me into a bone-crushing hug.

"(Y/n)! I haven't seen you in ages! We'll talk soon, okay?! I still have more dinner to prepare!" And she pushed me away from her to run back to the kitchen.

"Woah, Eren, help!" I yelped as I tripped over my feet. "Ah! I gotcha!"

Eren caught me right before I fell to the floor, causing us to both sigh in relief. "Sorry about my wife, she can get over excited." Grisha laughed as he walked in the room. "It's nice to see you again, (Y/n)."

I smiled politely as Eren helped me stable myself. "It's nice to see you, too. Sorry I haven't visited in a while. Eren usually invites himself over instead of inviting me."

Grisha chuckled. "Ah, that's quite all right. Go enjoy yourselves. Dinner won't be ready for awhile."

Eren and I both nodded before Eren lead me to his room. It had been about a year since I last came over to his house.

As soon as we walked in his room, I collapsed onto his bed and sighed in comfort. "You got a new bed, Eren! It's so comfy!" I said while rolling over onto my back.

He chuckled at my enthusiasm before laying next to me on his stomach. "Yeah." I hummed before speaking again. "Hey Eren, about earlier today with Mikasa..." I trailed off. "What about it? I told you, I understand that you did what you had to do." He said with a warm smile.

I look away from his smile with embarrassment. The feeling is coming back again, dammit! But what is this new feeling? When I think about Eren and Mikasa being together...jealousy? Why?

"This is just totally out of curiosity, but have you thought about hanging out with Mikasa?" I asked.

I heard a small chuckle come from Eren, which left me confused. Then I felt heat above my body, which left me even more confused until Eren turned my head.

His body was hovering over mine, which left us both in a lift but of an awkward state, but Eren said what he wanted to say.

"I'm not Mikasa's friend in any way, shape, or form, especially not what after she and Jean did to you. You're my best friend, and I intend on keeping it that way, got it?" I nodded to his words, making him sigh in relief

Before he could move a muscle, Eren's door suddenly opened. "Hey kids! Dinner's-" Carla stopped herself from talking when she realized our frozen positions.

"Ooh! I see, I see! Well, don't be long, kids!" "No, wait! Mom!" Eren called. Though, Carla already shut the door behind her and went back down to the kitchen.

I covered my face with my hands in embarrassment as Eren hung his head and groaned. "I'll never hear the end of this one." "May I remind you that your hand is still on my head..." I awkwardly stated. "Gah! Sorry!"

*Timeskip*

Eren and I joined his parents for dinner after the awkward encounters. Carla remembered that I loved (f/f), so she cooked that for dinner.

"I don't remember the last time I had (f/f).." Eren said. "The last time you were over at my place." I replied.

Eren glared at me, causing Carla and Grisha to laugh. "So kids, how's school going?" Carla asked.

"It's going all right. We've had a couple problems with kids at school, but other than that, classes are going smoothly." Eren replied. "Is it because of (Y/n)'s breakup with Jean?" Grisha asked.

"You guys knew about that?" I asked. "Of course! We make sure Eren keeps us updated about how you're doing. We know your parents are always gone on business trips, so we want to step in and help out, even if you and Eren one day become a couple!"

Eren choked on his food as my face became flushed. I pat on his back to help him cough up the food. "As much as I appreciate your help, I don't know why everyone keeps saying things like that! Come on, Eren! I do not feel like breaking your ribs today!"

Just as I finish my slight rant, Eren coughed up the piece of food he was choking on. "Eren, you overreact too much." Carla smirked.

Eren groaned in response before we heard a huge crack of thunder. It sent a huge shiver down my spine as I unconsciously scooted closer to Eren. I didn't know it was supposed to storm today...

"Crap, storms." Eren muttered as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders. I nuzzled my face into his shoulder and yelped as I heard another crack of thunder.

"Hey guys, can (Y/n) stay over? I hate to send her out in this." Eren said. "Of course, sweetie. Keep her safe for us!" Carla said. "Will do."
