It was dark where the young pre-preteen was at. He was in one of his hiding spots. The sun had risen an hour ago. He knew now would be the best time to leave. When he could blend in with the crowd. Loose all tracks of where he was going. Not that he knew where he was headed. Just that it was where he was meant to be. Fate and all that stuff.'I miss Grayson,' the child gently petted his dog's ear. "You won't willingly leave me would you?" Titus just barked, happy to be there in the now. "I wonder if Drake is happily reading everything I left? Probably right? I mean I did leave my journal. Since I won't need it." Tear stains slowly became wet again.
Alfred, the cat, butted their head* against his knee. He smiled softly at his pets. He couldn't take Bat-cow like he wanted, but Goliath would follow him to the ends of the earth, as would the two pets he has with him now.
A knock on the apartment door gains his attention. He quietly walked to the door and peeked out. He found the lady from across the hall standing there.
After slowly opening the door, positioned to hide the knife he held in his left hand for defense and protection. "Reid Age?" She asked in a clipped tone.
"Yes ma'am," he said quietly. "How can I help you?"
"I am on the welcoming comity," she sighed and ran a hand threw her short length salt and pepper hair. "I know I'm not all that "cheerful" right now, but welcome and if you need anything I'm across the hall of just ask for Tabitha Miller when you come in."
"Thank you Ms. Miller," he yawned. "I'm sorry but I'm in need of a nap." Tabitha nodded and left giving a yawn of her own. "That was... odd." His pets only blinked tiredly at him.
x-x Grayson POV
I had looked everywhere I could think of and then some. I even went to all of my hideouts and Jason's, not that he was happy about that. He was helping me search when I saw him. He had left his window open to let the , surprisingly clean, crisp air into the room.
I watched as he opened the door. I didn't jump in. Not yet. I wanted to see how it played out. If he was going to kill her I would stop it.
He didn't, which didn't surprise me. He had been getting better with that. Doesn't mean he wouldn't though. I was proud when he just closed the door. Jason sat next to me as I watch my baby crawl into his animal cuddles. He had even gotten Goliath in the room with them.
"He looks tired," Jason pointed out. "He fell asleep and he looks tired." He was baffled.
"He hasn't been sleeping well," I whisper. It hurt me to know this, and know that I did nothing to help with it. "Going over cases, what he did, how he could have been better. Things like that." My eyes never strayed from my little one.
Bruce Wayne's POV
I just stared at the letters. Mine was shorter then Dicks. But it was so much more telling.
Mr. Wayne. I'm sorry for being an inconvenience and just plain annoying since I was left with you. I have left so that you and your family can go back to being happy. I know that I was the wedge that was ripping the family apart.
I am not going to my mother's side. She didn't want me either, so I see no need in bothering her about this.Sincerely,
Damian al GhulI wanted to cry. I had pushed my youngest away. In doing so I ripped out my oldest's heart and caused him to leave also. I needed advice. And despite being none human. He was a better person then me.
* I have no idea what gender Alfred the Cat is. I've read both male and female pronouns for the kitty. So I'm just going to stick with them or it for now.
